This is what I think what was going on with Chase's thoughts in the movie.
I couldn't sleep due to the fact that I tried to save those 2 guys but my hook broke and well you know. I needed to get some fresh air so I hopped out of bed and walked to the balcony and when I stared out at the city I remembered what happened. The next day when the mission was called in it felt a little ironic that I had a dream like this and anyway we have a mission to do. I was about to zipline to the people but I felt like my hook wasn't on right and I was going to fail. I couldn't handle it because of everything that could happen and then I remembered dying. When Skye came to get me I felt a little safe but when we were getting to the ground I felt unsure of myself. Ryder gave me a tight hug but I tried to contain my fear but I failed and Ryder wasn't going to let me do missions. I couldn't believe Ryder would do this to me, some of the worlds hero's didn't allow anything to stop their soldiers. So I needed to get away so I ran away and soon was kidnapped by Humdingers minions.
