Omniscient

Frustration fueled the groan fleeing from her clenched teeth, her brain mentally taking her laptop to chuck to the other side of the room.

It was her last and most difficult homework assignment, from her most difficult subject, and right about now Eve was considering becoming a drug dealer for a living. Either that or a stripper, or something illegal that would surely disappoint her parents far beyond imagination.

Her deadline was 11:59, and it was currently 10:30. She worked best under pressure, sure, but tonight definitely had a certain kick that was making her think otherwise.

With her stress levels rising and her leg bouncing and the fingernail of her thumb pinched between her teeth, Eve navigated her laptop to try again.

"If this bitch tells me I'm wrong one more fucking time- when our answers are the exact fucking same!" she stood from her chair at the last of her shouted words, having it scrape the floor. Just as she'd put both hands to her face to drag her nails down in distress while she paced her room back and forth, a knock hit her bathroom door before it opened.

Ocean popped her head in, a knowing grin across her lips. "Sweetie?"

"Hm?" Eve hadn't stopped her pacing, nor had her hands left her face. Ocean stepped inside to lean against the wall.

"Everything okay?"

"I'm bout to crash the fuck out," she mumbled, and her best friend smiled. "Everything's going great."

Saying no more, Ocean took a seat in the chair at Eve's desk, looking over the screen before giving Eve her full attention. "Okay shoot."

"This dumbass piece of shit keeps telling me I'm wrong but then the correct answers are literally the exact fucking same as what I'm putting-" her face scrunched in irritation with her explanation to Ocean as she had a hand gestured to her laptop. Withholding a smirk, for she found Eve's turn of vocabulary amusing and her intensified demeanor a little attractive, Ocean simply nodded. "It's pissing me off, and I'm about to just submit the shit like it is," her eyes rolled.

"And it's due tonight?"

"Yes," Eve started to whine as if tears were about to follow, her shoulders slumping before she plopped her face down onto her bed in defeat.

"Okay come on, let's see if this works," Ocean stood to grab her best friend's hand, now dragging her out of the bedroom.

Into the kitchen area was where they went, where she simply opened the freezer and to grab the ice cream then a spoon and bowl. She knew that it was likely to do the trick, for it always had whenever Eve reached this point of her late night studies.

Her agitation was from her not having a break, or any fuel, and ice cream had never failed to cheer her up.

Folding her arms with her smirk concealed still, Ocean rested back against the counter after handing Eve the bowl, now tilting her head while watching Eve reluctantly take a bite.

Not wanting to show to her best friend that she was right just yet, Eve flicked her eyes up to find Ocean's knowing gaze before blushing and turning away while taking another spoonful. Ocean laughed, and Eve's blush grew. She couldn't help her smile then once the girl nudged her shoulder to have them both sway.

"Better?"

"No," Eve murmured into her third bite. Then she giggled at fingers sneaking a tickle at the most ticklish area of her side.

Ocean's smirk spread. "Better now?"

It was more of a dare for Eve to say 'no' again, and Eve knew that well. Hence her skittering away from the reach of Ocean with a teasing grin as she held the bowl and spoon in her hands. Now that Ocean was following her, she ran off into her room, though Ocean was simply happy to see her at ease again.
