OmniscientLike the rhythmic tick of a clock, her heart beat in her chest. And like the push and pull of a tide, her nerves swarmed within her stomach, erupting thuds into the rib cage within her chest.
Black and white dunks dressed her feet as wide gray sweatpants dressed her long legs and a forest green cami top snugged around her chest and torso, revealing her belly piercing. Her hair was up in a middle ponytail as she carried with her nothing but her shoulder handbag, and hope that this conversation would go well.
Along with the hope that Dakota wouldn't slam the door in her face...
Nerves sailed within the silent deep breath she took once arriving at the door at the end of the carpeted hall, just before her fist raised to knock.
Seconds passed and she knew the girl was inside, for they had one another's location.
Well, at least before Diamond turned hers off a few days ago. That was one thing among the list of many that she would soon be explaining and apologizing for. It overwhelmed her just how much she might've messed things up between the two of them.
Natural lighting from inside the apartment soon graced the apprehensive lines written across of her features, followed by the tense lock of their eyes.
Dakota's breath fell short before she stilled on an inhale, her every limb slowly freezing at the sight of the girl she loved. A moment then passed as nothing was said between them, for the fall of their eyes upon one another had occupied the instant greeting instead.
Shifting her weight nervously onto one foot, Diamond's face did well at misprojecting her inner worries. Only the soft bite of her lip and brief glance to her shoes managed to slightly give her away.
"Hi," she whispered through the nervous pursing of her lips.
Seeing Dakota after days apart made her feel a way that she didn't like at all.
"Hey..." The girl's voice was soft and a little unreadable to Diamond. Then she simply took a step back with her arm still extending to hold open the door and her eyes falling to her socked feet.
With a mental thank you, Diamond took the que to walk inside, stopping at the kitchen first to follow Dakota's lead.
It was instantly met by the girl gesturing a brief hand towards the living room, having Diamond soon walk to take a seat on the plush sofa while Dakota followed behind at a noticeable distance.
She knew why, and every bit of it gnawed even more at her.
"You know..." Diamond's head picked up from her lap at the sound of Dakota's soft spoken words once they sat down. Keeping in her emotions, she met Diamond's gaze. "For someone who likes to be straightforward, you have a pretty funny way of showing it by ignoring my calls and text then showing up at my place unannounced," she attempted to shine a humored grin.
