Loid entered the dark and quiet apartment, shutting the door behind him with utmost care, not wanting to wake his family with the noise of it clicking shut.

It was quite late into the night so they should be fast asleep. But over the last few years, Anya became a light sleeper, much like him.

A single noise would be enough to rouse her from her much needed rest.

He slipped off his shoes at the side and placed his hat at the top of the rack, next to the baseball cap that Anya uses for missions.

He shucked off his coat and hung it on a lower hook beside Yor's cardigan.

Walking further into the house, he opens the light for the living area and once the bulb turns on and illuminates the room, he jumps at the sight of a person curled up on the couch.

Acting on instinct, he whips out the gun stored in the holster attached to his belt and prepared to fire.

As his finger hovered over the trigger, he takes a few seconds to examine the person who was seemingly asleep.

Based from the nightgown and the long black hair that covered their face, as well as the slim and curvy figure, he was sure it was a woman.

One that looked eerily familiar.

'Yor-san?!'

He puts the gun back into its holster and stares at his wife, dumbfounded.

Perhaps it was the fatigue catching up with his brain. He should've been able to determine that it was Yor the moment he saw her.

But then again, his mind had a tendency to forget that he has a family now.

Sighing in relief, he walks over to Yor and sits in the space where her bent legs didn't reach.

Leaning over her form, he carefully brushed some hair out of her face and smiled softly at how peaceful she looked.

He didn't want to wake her up but she shouldn't be sleeping on the couch.

Carrying her to her room was an option but his body was too beat and tired to do so. And Yor would wake at any movement he does.

He reached for her left hand that rested atop the throw pillow her arms curled around on and held it with a featherlight touch, his gaze stopping on the wedding ring on her finger.

The ruby ring that rested on top of the silver band was the one he bought for her after his long mission outside of town. (Iykyk)

He beamed at how she was wearing both.

He sees the two rings on her finger everyday but he never seemed to get used it, being unable to hide his grin every time.

It was still somewhat unbelievable to him at how he managed to get her as his wife.

He laced his fingers through hers and placed his other hand on her shoulder, gently shaking her awake.

Her eyes twitched and her eyebrows knit together as she stirred in her sleep.

Loid squeezes her hand, encouraging her to wake.

A few moments later, she opens her eyes with a groan, blinking repeatedly so she can adjust to the bright lights.

When she was awake enough to come to her senses, her eyes snap towards the presence sitting by her feet with a smile.

Upon noticing the warm hand on top of hers, she jolts up in surprise and yanks her hand out of his hold on reflex.
