A/n: Before anyone gets annoyed again, nothing in this is true and it's all I could think about writing 😭
All I wanted was to enjoy a peaceful jog through the English Garden in Munich, breathing in the crisp morning air and letting my mind wander. The scenery was beautiful, with the sunlight filtering through the trees and the Isar River glistening nearby. It was the perfect escape from the usual hustle and bustle, a moment of calm in a city that never really stopped moving. You may not think it if you don't live here but Munich is more beautiful than everyone gives it credit for.
But of course, that moment was shattered by none other than my big idiot of a sister, Lea.
I think I received the worst news of my life that morning. Yes, worse than when our dad performed his ultimate disappearing act and turned up 5 days later yelling at everyone and everything. The worst part: it all happened in a simple phone call.
"Hey, (Y/n/n), how are you? Enjoying the English gardens?" Lea's voice chirped through the phone. It was too cheerful, too casual—she never made small talk like this. Lea was the type to get straight to the point, no nonsense. If it got her into trouble she would smile her way out of it
"Who are you, and what have you done with my sister?" I replied, half-joking but mostly suspicious. I guess having older sisters gives you trust issues
Lea hesitated before speaking as if worried at what I would say which made my stomach tighten. "Well, you know how my contract with Bayern Munich was up, and I decided not to renew it..."
"Yes, I know, what you doing instead, don't beat around the bush about this Le" I cut in, urging her to get to the point. Lea was never this vague unless she was about to drop a bombshell.
"I got a few offers," she continued, her voice wavering slightly. "From Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, and, um... Dortmund."
I felt a knot forming in my chest. "You didn't, you wouldn't dare" I muttered under my breath, feeling dread build up.
"I declined Wolfsburg because I wouldn't get enough game time, and Hoffenheim just didn't feel right," she said, her words confirming my worst fears.
"No. Absolutely not. Tell me you didn't accept Dortmund. You can't join them, Lea! What we always used to say, never dortmund cause they're the German spurs team!" I blurted out, my heart racing.
Lea sighed, and I could almost hear her bracing herself for my reaction. "I did. I'm signing the contract with Borussia Dortmund, it's a 3 year contract with option to renew, I just wanted you to hear it from me first, before the news breaks. (Y/n/n), are you okay?"
"Mhm. Fine," I lied, my voice tight.
"You don't sound fine. Come on, say what's on your mind," Lea urged.
"Are you stupid?" I snapped, catching her off guard.
"Excuse me?" she replied, clearly taken aback.
"You heard me. Are. You. Stupid?" I repeated, each word dripping with disbelief.
"No? I don't think so? What kind of question is this?" she answered, sounding more unsure than before.
"Why on earth would you choose Dortmund? I'd pick any other club over them! Do you know how much we hate Dortmund? It's the one team that all of Munich despises. You could've been here in the best city in Germany, but no, you had to pick *them*. I'd rather see you at Leipzig, and that's saying something! Now I have to play against you in some of the biggest games of the year Le, it's not like the rivalry is small!"
Lea chuckled softly, but I could hear the tension in her voice. "I get it, but I'll get a more certain position there. They have a solid squad, and I think I'll enjoy it. Plus, I could get you a Dortmund jersey for your birthday or Christmas," she teased.
"Having a certain position is one thing, but Dortmund? Absolutely not. And if you ever give me a Dortmund jersey, I'll burn it to ashes, you know how much I like playing with fire and It'll match their sorry excuse for a trophy cabinet," I shot back, half-serious.
"Don't you already have a Dortmund jersey? I thought I saw one in your collection."
"Yeah, but that was a gift from Gio Reyna after a national team match. It's buried so deep in my closet it's practically in another dimension. If I get any more, they're going straight behind the Leipzig ones," I huffed.
"So... are you okay with this? Not that it'll change my mind, but I just want to know."
"I'm... I'm okay with it," I managed to say, the words tasting bitter. "But you know what, Le?"
"What's up, (Y/n/n)?" she asked, a hint of laughter in her voice, sensing my exaggerated reaction.
"I was having a great morning until now. Don't get me wrong, I love you, but this news ruined my day, my week—no, my century! This is worse than World War II! This is World War III starting now. If there's any silver lining, it's that I get to beat you and Dortmund when we face off."
"Good luck with that," Le quipped, sticking out her tongue even though I couldn't see her.
"Oh, it's not luck. It's a promise," I laughed. "Go ahead, sign that contract. Good luck... you'll need it."
"See you soon, (Y/n/n). We're not too far away from each other either, I mean it's closer than England or Spain or something."
"Yeah right... Bye, Le. See you on the pitch."
