"You have to take it (Y/n/n)." I heard Bruna called from beside me. "This is your time to shine, to show everyone why your here and silence the crowd."
"I cant..." I trailed off, "Someone else should take it, I missed last time we had one this important and made us lose to Lyon in the champions league, plus others are more experienced in free kicks."
"That wasn't your fault, that was a team loss. Forget about it. Plus who else here is more experienced in them? Our regulars have been subbed off so this is your moment, show them why no one should forget your name, right your name in the history books. Plus I really want to win this and get revenge."
"You know theres no I in team but there is a me sooooo really it was my fault and you just wont accept it."
"(Y/n) I am warning you, take the damn free kick."
"I don't want to though." I whined. Why does everyone want me to take one if the most important free kicks of not just mine but everyone else's career, it doesn't even affect just my team it affects Lyons too. Why cant someone else take it?
"(Y/n/n), I can and will not go on that date with you if you don't do this. Think of it as a little extra motivation."
"Thats blackmail on a very high lev-"
"(Y/n) please take the free kick." I heard Bruna sigh from behind me, giving me a slight push towards the ball which was led on the floor ready for me.
"You're going to smash this." I heard her whisper as she began walking away, giving my arm a light pat on her way past. I picked the ball up and span it around a few times to fin the perfect spot that I want to hit.
I finally put the ball on the spot, turning it over a couple times again, out of habit.
I took a deep breath before taking three steps back and one to the left whilst making sure I'm in the perfect position to strike the ball as cleanly as I can, watching the spot that I want to hit.
So much can go wrong with free kicks, you can miss the goal, the goalkeeper can save it, you can hit the crossbar or posts, you can slip but still score which would just be embarrassing or worse you can miss the ball entirely and then a stadium of over 40000 people would laugh at you then they would video it and it would go all around instagram, TikTok, you name it. TikTok would definitely be the worst, it's brutal on there. Oh and you can also just mess up royally a loose the game.
I took a few more deep breaths before slowly moving forward before having a burst of speed to hit the ball perfectly. I shut my eyes when I felty boot connect with it, the crowd can tell me if I score or not.
Suddenly, I heard the crowd scream in celebration. They were chanting my name. They were chanting my name like they do Alexia's and how they cheated Messi's. I opened my eyes to see the replay on the screen, top right corner, curled round the outside of the wall. The goalie had no chance in my opinion, sure I might be a little bit biased.
as the game reset the whistle went signalling the end of the game. Barcelona, champions league winners after losing last year. We worked for this. We deserve this.
Before I knew it all my team was jumping on me, even those on the bench or injured. Everyone began chanting in their native language and my poor English head couldn't take it, I don't think Keiras could either.
Then came Bruna, as soon as she reached me I was pulled into a hug which I leaned into and hugged her tightly back.
"I told you that you could do it." She whispered into my ear. In response I just let out a small sigh, resting my head on her shoulder.
"I hate free kicks." I whisper on the verge of tears from all the stress of it, I wouldn't let myself live it down if I missed. "I thought I'd make a fool of myself again."
"You didn't though did you." Lauren said. "You done it, and you scored a banger, keeper had no chance. I'm always proud of you, as is this team and all our fans love. They all care about you more than if you don't score or if we loose a game. Sure it might be sore subject for a few days but thats where we put a post up then don't open our phones, everyones going to have those people in the world, who you deal with it is more important."
Before I could respond I was swarmed by the team once again, a couple of them putting their arms around my shoulder moving me away from Bruna. I gave her a small apologetic smile before I was pulled towards fans that were shouting for me. Before I could even head towards the fans Alexia decided to give me a piggy back while yelling, 'vişca Barça.'
I love meeting fans don't get me wrong but I hate it when they take us for granted. They get sad when we're injured but then expect us back to full fitness when we return. To be honest thats probably more management though, Vivianne Miedema is an example if that. So glad she's joining us here at Barça.
I went over to the side after meeting a couple fans to talk to reporters.
"(Y/l/n) It's a pleasure to have you over here." Alex Scott told me.
"It's nice to see you Alex, thanks for having me. and thanks for coming out to the game"
"How does it feel to score that free kick after missing last time you had one out here? Obviously you've scored other free kicks but this must be special."
"Yeah incredibly special, I mean o was out injured for a while and then had to have time off for personal reasons so this was my first major match back and I like to think I lived up to the hype and done the club proud."
Before I could continue the interview Bruna ran up to me, jumping on my back. My arms instinctively wrapped around her legs so she couldn't fall.
"I'm proud of you and I love you." She whispered so no one could hear it, though I think Alex did by the slight smile on her face.
"I'm just that amazing." I whispered back with a slight chuckle which caused her to smack my arm. "I love you too." I whispered.
"Championsssssss!" I yelled towards the camera before I began running about with Bruna on my back like a lunatic.
