Realistically, I should have known better than to believe I could be smooth and arrive earlier so Chan wouldn't see I actually left work after my break. On the other hand, I shouldn't be shocked that this boy was early like the perfect green flag that he is, and unintentionally exposed me by showing up not at all how I said I would. It was as I had begun my trek towards the boba shop from my bus stop that I realized this; from a distance, I caught sight of his side profile hunched over in his seat, delivering scratches to the underside of Berry's floppy ears as he grinned and spoke to her.
Per usual, at this point, I decided to take the opportunity of his gaze turned away for me to appreciate his choice of fashion for the occasion. He was adorned in a signature 'Bangchan style' that I found attractive and endearing; oversized layered shirts with a hint of distressed details, classic faded blue jeans loose in fit, his staple of signature dark treaded boots, and an earth-tone crossbody bag with most likely Berry-related necessities inside.
A part of me was anxious while Sungcha had assisted me in my own wardrobe for the evening earlier, hoping that my style and aesthetic would coincide with his. Though I knew that ultimately didn't matter too much, I knew I would feel a sense of calm and relief in knowing that he may approve of my clothing choices because they were similar to his. I was never the type to copy someone else or let men affect my own decisions about what goes on in my body. I was, however, the type to appreciate if our tastes and likes coincided with one another.
