harpy hare, yaelokre
As some of the class was missing due to their own hero studies, Juniper found herself spending more time with the others. She heard bits and pieces about their experiences and couldn't help but interrogate Aizawa when he was suddenly much busier than before.
After class had finished, Juniper sat on Shoto's desk while kicking her feet, "Hey, Sho. Don't you think Aizawa is up to something? He keeps missing class and having Present Mic sub, which is far too loud for home room."
He shrugged, packing up his things to get ready to head back to the dorm, "He likely has a mission. The rest of the hero study students have been busy as well, no one seems to be allowed to talk about it though."
Juniper hummed, closing her eyes as she pondered. It was only for a few seconds before she popped up from the desk and had a determined look on her face, "Okay! I'll just ask Aizawa about it!!"
Shoto grabbed her wrist with slight concern, "Are you sure about this? Don't you think he would tell you not to ask about it?"
She pushed his bangs back with a joyful grin, "I won't know unless I try!! I'll see you later, Sho!!" He couldn't stop her, waving goodbye as she ran out of the classroom and chased after her teacher. Lucky for her, she spotted him just down the hall about to turn the corner. Juniper took off her cuff and flew in front of her teacher, "Aizawa!! I have a question!!"
The teacher wanted to go to sleep but decided to accommodate his student, "What is it Juniper? I have to head to a meeting soon."
"Oh really?" She leaned from side to side, debating the best way she could find out and deciding to be friendly, "What's the meeting about?"
He could guess that she was curious about the recent increase in meetings that he unfortunately had to attend. "That's classified. You should go train if you have time to ask me questions."
Juniper followed after him as he started down the hall once more, "I just want to knowwww~! I'm worried about you! Clearly you haven't been getting enough sleep and even the hero study students seem a lot more stressed than usual. I just want to help out if I can!!"
Aizawa looked at her, appreciating her enthusiasm yet knowing the rules, "I still can't tell you anything."
She had an idea, going in front of the teacher to propose her solution, "What if you don't tell me but let me help when it counts?"
The idea intrigued him a bit, knowing how useful Juniper could potentially be in a high stakes situation. "You wouldn't be allowed to fight at all. Quirk use would be heavily restricted and under supervision."
It didn't matter much to her, "That's fine! I could retrieve people if they get injured and need immediate evactuation so I wouldn't be involved with the fight and can provide support."
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as the contemplated the plausibility, "You wouldn't be allowed to know all the information. I would need to discuss this with those in charge. I can't promise anything will or won't happen. Above all else, your safety is the most important."
That was good enough for Juniper. She cheered and spun around with excitement, "Thanks Dad— Err, I mean Aizawa!!!!! Thank you!!" With the small slip up, Juniper zoomed away, crashing into Hitoshi as he left his class. She put her arms around him and flew away, "ImessedupImessedupImessedup—"
Aizawa watched as she left, a small smile forming on his face from the warm feeling that blossomed in his chest. It was... nice to see that he was like a father figure, someone she could rely on in place of her own absent father. He would do his best to help her achieve her goals and do what he could so she could still gain experience despite not having her license yet.
Hitoshi tried to calm her down, placing his hands on top of hers to try and get her to stop flying, "Woah, Angel. What happened?"
She placed him back down and moved so she was flying backwards in front of him to still face him, "It's nothing!! Just a slip up, no big deal... Right?"
He raised an eyebrow, noticing her quirk use and the lack of a cuff on her arm, "Are you trying to get used to your quirk throughout the day now?"
Juniper spun around with her arms extended, "Yes sir! I need to challenge myself in order to progress, right? I think I'm doing quite a good job if I do say so myself!"
The purple boy couldn't help his excitement upon feeling her energy, unable to stop himself from grabbing her hand to hold, "You are. You're amazing."
She giggled a little before suddenly pulling him quickly to a bush and squatting down, "Toshi look! There's a kitten!!"
Hitoshi was pulled down, bumping into Juniper as they looked into the greenery. She was right, a tiny white cat was meowing from within the bushes as if it had somehow crawled underneath. He practically had stars in his eyes as he reached through the bush and gently grabbed the kitten, "Hi bub... Shhh, it's okay. You're okay now."
Leaning in closer, Juniper had a look of awe as she looked at the kitten, "Do you think we can keep it?"
He grinned before lifting the cat up so he could look at the girl and the kitten, "You look exactly the same!! It looks like it was abandoned... I think it would be okay to keep it. What should we call... him, the kitten is a him."
Juniper carefully pet the kitten while thinking, "You said hi bub so how about Bubba?"
No matter what she said, he would've allowed it. Hitoshi smiled as he noticed the kitten relaxing a bit in his hands, "Bubba is perfect. I can keep him at my dorm, since I know you're busier with hero training."
She nodded, seeing his logic and not minding the lack of responsibility she would have, "Okay! That means I'll be visiting a lot more often then. Should we get supplies for Bubba?"
Hitoshi nodded, mentally starting a list in his head as they got up with him gently holding the kitten in one hand and Juniper's hand in his other. He realized what he could do, "Yeah. Could you hold Bubba for a sec?" Juniper nodded and held onto the kitten as if it were the most precious thing in the world. Hitoshi took off his tie and white button down so he could comfortably put on his purple hoodie backwards. He gently took the kitten back and placed him in the hood in front of him.
Looking at the pair, Juniper giggled, "Cuties!! Where's the closest pet store?"
He led the way holding onto her hand, "Two streets over. We can get some cat food, a kitty litter, some toys, bathtub necessities, a bed, and maybe a collar to make sure we don't lose him."
She started swinging their hands back and forth as they walked, becoming excited as they got closer and closer. "Do you think Bubba will grow to be at least a meter long?"
Her enthusiasm was contagious, "Maybe, if Bub is a maine coon breed. He kinda looks like one but I'm not sure, maybe we can ask the pet store owner for a second opinion."
Juniper was very happy. They entered the store and Hitoshi led her around to make sure they got everything important. He let her pick out the collar and she ended up choosing one that was purple which matched the boy's hair.
According to the store owner there was a high chance Bubba was a maine coon but they would have to wait for Bubba to grow older in order for them to find out. After shopping, they set everything up in the boy's room, they being Hitoshi as he let Bubba and Juniper bond.
Seeing them together warmed his heart.
He hoped she would visit a lot, partially to see Bubba and partially to spend time with him.
