After school, Juniper found herself on the way to Hitoshi's house who was hoping to get more practice with what Aizawa had taught him. She rolled her head around, stretching out as Hitoshi held onto the capture scarf he was given to use.
Since he was still getting used to the scarf and how it worked, it was essentially target practice to try and capture the chaotic girl.
Hitoshi pounced, sending one end of the scarf flying over at her which managed to wrap around her arm. Since he was anchored to her, Juniper whipped her arm behind her and pulled him right to her from the momentum. Her wrapped arm draped around his waist, locking him in a position he couldn't fight against.
"Fuck."
Juniper giggled, unwrapping her arm and instead wrapping the scarf around him, "Close~!"
She stepped back, looking at the boy who deadpanned at her as he began to struggle, "Can't you help me get out..."
The girl just started braiding his hair at random places again, "Nope! Isn't it your job to master how to use it or something?"
Groaning, Hitoshi started trying to pull on different places of the scarf, "You just like seeing me suffer." He figured it out after a few moments and whipped the scarf back at the girl, this time successfully wrapping her up, "Yes!!! Fuck you!!!!"
Pouting, Juniper flopped down to the ground and started whining, "So mean, Toshi!!! How am I supposed to live like this?" While looking at the boy, she used her quirk to easily unwind it from being around her, spinning out of it like a top, "Oh, wow, so easy!!!"
He tried a bit more complex this time, fueled by his slight annoyance as he saw Juniper escape so easily the first time. But the scarf started getting away from his control, moving around the girl's arms and wrapping both her and himself together. The force of them colliding sent the duo right toward the ground, causing Juniper to turn them so Hitoshi would fall onto her.
Their faces were inches apart, foreheads hitting each other causing both to wince with pain. Juniper groaned, leaning her head back to the ground below her and making eye contact with the boy above her.
Being so close allowed Hitoshi to see how long Juniper's eyelashes were, the small freckle she had beneath her right eye, and the way her black eyes glistened in the light. Juniper saw how Hitoshi's purple eyes were just a bit lighter than his hair, his flushed skin that enhanced his features, and how his dark circles purely accentuated his allure.
It was as if time had stopped.
Warm breaths intermingled from their previous efforts.
Hitoshi was well aware of his feelings. It was impossible for him to ignore, how could he? Kujo Juniper was a light in his life that he never wanted to let go of, and would never let go of. She believed in him. She helped him out in more ways than one. She was his angel.
Juniper's heart was racing but she simply thought it was from using her quirk. She believed that she felt like she had been unable to breathe because of her quirk. Most of the time, the way she felt was purely because of her quirk.
But it wasn't because of her quirk.
The sleep deprived boy was everything to her, he was the only one who cared about her through it all. They spent so much time together, how could he not be held so dearly in her heart?
She broke out of their trance first, smirking at the boy, "If you wanted to stare then you should've just asked, Dear."
He couldn't help but smile, his cheeks hurting a bit from pure joy as he fought back, "You were staring at me too, Angel. Did someone catch feelings?" I did.
But Juniper was never one to back down, at least not verbally, "We'll, you're the one who fell for me so..." She teased the boy, causing him to blush ever so slightly from both their proximity and her words.
After all, she was correct.
Hitoshi rolled over so both of them looked at each other on their side and blew his bangs out of his face, "Shall we get out, Angel? Unless you would like to stay like this longer... But my moms will be coming home soon."
Humming, Juniper started feeling around the scarf with her hands, "Perhaps a better impression would be ideal. Feel free to tie me up whenever you want, Hi~to~shi~"
With that, Juniper managed to pull the correct end, releasing the scarf from around them and allowing them to back off and sit up. Not that Hitoshi would've minded being like that longer. Maybe he would take up her offer.
"Hitoshi, we're home!!! Oh you must be Juniper!!!"
Two women waved from inside of the house at the two teenagers in the backyard. Hitoshi quickly got up and held his hand out to help Juniper up. The two of them brushed themselves off a bit before heading to greet their elders.
Juniper grinned widely at the ladies, "Hello!! My name is Kujo Juniper but please call me Juniper!"
The lady who spoke earlier had Hitoshi's purple hair, amber eyes, and was a foot shorter than the boy. She introduced herself, "It's a pleasure to meet you! We've heard so much about you, please call me Ayame!!"
Beside her was a slightly taller blonde who had brown eyes and a warm smile, "Call me Hana! We'll go change real quick and then have some dinner together!"
Both older women had dark circles beneath their eyes, making them look similar and their family look whole. They were wearing their white coats and scrubs so both went to change into casual clothes after their shifts.
Hitoshi and Juniper started setting the table, the girl insisting on helping since she would rather die than sit still for five minutes. Once the adults came back, Hana brought in a bag of take out from the couple's favorite traditional restaurant, "We've got katsu don if that's okay with you, Juniper!"
She couldn't help but smile from Hana's hospitality, "Of course! That sounds lovely, thank you!!"
At the table, Hana and Ayame sat across from Juniper and Hitoshi as they chatted about whatever came to mind.
It was the first time in over a decade that Juniper had enjoyed a family dinner.
She felt warm.
"Juniper, Ayame, and Hana... It's as if you're meant to join our family Juniper!! All flower names, it must be meant to be!!!" Ayame joked to the girl, causing her son to blush a bit out of embarrassment and wave his hand dismissively.
Hitoshi closed his eyes as he spoke, "Mom, come on! I told you not to make those kinds of jokes!!"
Juniper chimed in, tapping the boy's cheek to get his attention before speaking, "Actually, I would love to be in a family like this!! Eating together, chatting about your days, spending time together... It sounds perfect."
It was clear to the ladies that Juniper was yearning for her own family of sorts. Hana placed a hand on the girl's as she spoke, "You're free to come over any time!!! Hell, we would love to have you over every night if you were okay with it!!!"
Once again, the boy groaned with embarrassment as he face palmed, discretely looking at Juniper's reaction as he added on, "They're cheesy but please feel free to come over more often. Save me from their teasing, Juniper."
She laughed a bit, biting her tongue slightly as she thought.
It would be nice.
Family... Can I really have one?
"I'd love to come over once a week if that works with you all!! As long as I won't be a burden..."
"Of course not sweetie, any friend of Hitoshi's is welcome anytime."
Warmth. That's what all Juniper could feel from the Shinso household.
