Do people really change?

Present || Alfonzo

My body relaxes slightly at the sound of the water yet I remain standing at the door. Leo is too unstable to be left alone but it's not like he trusts any of us to stay with him in the bathroom.

Alonzo's chilling gaze doesn't leave my face, his eyes narrowed. I can practically read him like a book, what's with your sudden attitude change?

To tell the truth, I don't even know myself but when I saw the way that fucker was manhandling Leo, all I could see was rage. The only thing going through my mind was murder.

My thoughts are cut off by the sound of heavy footsteps before the door opens and shuts softly, two figures barging in.

Both their hands are bloody, murderous expressions mirroring both faces.

"Had fun?" I ask, feeling a grin light up my face.

Giovanni shakes his head," They're gone."

"What's gone?" Alonzo asks, stepping away from the wall and walking towards them.

"The documents." Antonio breathes out, chest heaving.

"What?" I mutter, how could they have gone?

"Do we know who took them?" Luca asks, crossing his arms.

Antonio shakes his head," They were on my desk yesterday, I didn't even get a chance to look at them properly."

"Shit." Luca mutters.

"Can't you get another copy?" Alonzo asks, his brows furrowed.

"No, those documents held the records of almost everything related to the accident. we spent weeks trying to get them." Giovanni says," The timeline of everything, eye-witnesses and the location of the people involved."

"You mean the driver?" Luca asks.

Who would take the documents from Antonio's room, we were the only ones who knew about this, it can't have been Dad he was with Leo all day everyday.

"Didn't he die on impact?" Alonzo asks, tilting his head slightly.

Giovanni frowns," No he's very much alive, in a coma, but alive. Hmm let me try to remember, we wanted to go through the information together but we didn't have time and now this happens."

"Great." Luca mutters.

"What are we going to do now? We can't ask Dad. He doesn't want to talk about it."

I guess that makes sense, after doing everything he could to investigate what really happened, nothing much came to light but he must've known about the driver being in a coma, so why didn't he tell us?

"Alex did say there were some documents in Dad's safe, maybe they might have something useful?" It'd be worth a try.

"Wait, how did you get those in the first place?" My eyes narrow, they spent a good few weeks trying to find all the information they could.

Antonio smirks," It's a good thing to have friends in high places."

"Or low." Gio mutters.

Antonio glares at him," We got the information didn't we? Didn't even cost much."

"Well it's gone now and you didn't even look at it properly." Gio snaps back, anger laced in his tone.

"I don't think inquiring about your family member's deaths, which could've been a clear assassination attempt is an easy thing to do." He seethes.
