You'll always be the deepest scar in my heart
Present || Leonardo
I stood still for a good five minutes before gathering a little bit of courage and knocked on the door to my father's office.
"Come in." His voice was loud and clear, no emotion evident.
I hope he isn't in a bad mood.
Breathing out a small sigh, I opened the door and took small steps towards his desk.
"What can I do for you Leonardo?" His cold voice made me want to run all the way back to my bedroom.
Of course, that wasn't an option. I could barely walk properly let alone run.
"I-I was wondering," I started off before stopping. Would he really let me?
Father stopped what he was doing and looked up from the pile of documents on his desk. Placing his pen down, he put both hands under his chin and raised an eyebrow.
My eyes were fixated on his hands instead of his face. To be clear, the ring on his finger.
It was the same one, the same one he used to scar me with. Unintentionally or not, he still wore it to this day.
Maybe father wasn't a sentimental man but almost every object held value to me.
From the stuffed animal Teo let me have to the very ring my father used to hurt me with.
They never failed to remind me of my past.
I felt tears threatening to fall just at the mere sight of his ring.
Father heaved out a heavy sigh before standing up from his desk and taking quick strides over to me. He towered over me with his tall, buff frame.
We stared into each others eyes, maybe I'm mistaken but why did it feel as if he was staring at me with guilt?
His eyes held a softness I hadn't seen in a while.
I felt a tear slide down my face and I could do nothing to stop the remaining fall.
My eyes widened when a calloused hand gently wiped my tears away. Father stared into my eyes for a moment, giving me a small smile he quickly kissed my forehead and I felt my heart clench.
Was he going to be nice to me from now on?
My happiness was short lived because the door to the office opened and as soon as the person stepped in, father delivered a blow to my face.
I fell to the floor, clutching my mouth in pain. The taste of blood going down my throat made me want to vomit.
Father's cold voice rang out," I may not have told you this before but I am not to be disturbed whilst I am working. Do not come here again unless I send someone to fetch you. Is that understood Leonardo?"
I whimpered in response and Father sighed before saying," Get out."
I slowly got to my feet and limped out the office, not missing the smirk on Alfonzo's face.
Well that was a waste, I mumbled to myself, clutching my face in pain.
What was I going to do now?
I really needed to buy a few things and I had some money saved so paying for my necessities wouldn't be a problem. Lisa was kind enough to give me fifty dollars. She felt bad saying it wasn't enough but that was all the cash she had on her since her pay check was delayed.
