Cassie moved toward the plane in a half speed-walk half jog. It was almost a struggle for Lando to keep up with her but he wouldn't dare ask her to slow down.

When they got to the plane, it was just the two of them on board along with the two flight attendants and the pilots. Flying private had its advantages. Flying whenever was definitely one but so was privacy.

"There's beds in the back." Lando commented. She shook her head. "I'm not tired."

A lie that Lando could see right through. Just fourty minutes prior he was watching as she fought against her heavy eyelids, trying not to laugh at the battle. Though he supposed the adrenaline was now keeping her awake.

Cassie threw herself down on one of the seats, rested her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands. Yes, she was tired but going in the bunk room meant she would be alone, and she really didn't want to be alone.

The touch of a warm hand on her back was sudden and unexpected. But she welcomed its warmth and comfort as it started to rub circles on her back.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Lando's voice was caring and gentle.

"He's never had a good heart. Literally, not metaphorically. It's why he had to quit racing and why I did this for him." Cassie paused, her eyes panning to the night sky which glittered from the luminous city lights below and the shining stars above. "I didn't think it would ever lead to this, I mean..." she paused to take a deep breath. "He always told me it was nothing to worry about, so I trusted him."

She faced Lando, a sheer blanket of tears falling over her eyes. "He went into cardiac arrest." She finally explained. Lando's heart ached in sympathy. "Oh, Cass." He didn't know how to comfort her. Her whole body was shaking and she was making a feeble attempt at holding back her tears and Lando was totally helpless in terms of comforting her. The only thing he could do was be here for her.

She shook her head. "I hate flying."

He didn't know whether it was an off handed comment, or an attempt at changing to topic, but he followed he lead. "After so many years?" She nodded. "Always makes me feel sick."

As the plane took off, Cassie straightened, grabbing onto Lando's hand trying to ground herself. She held her breath the whole time they ascended into the sky.

Some of the tension left her shoulders and she was able to relax some. Her hand was still squeezing Lando's and while she didn't notice, he sure did.

She let out the breath she previously held captive. "Especially the take off."

Lando chuckled. "I guess you're not a fan of turbulence, then?" He joked, to which she grinned and shook her head.

Cassie reached for a remote next to her seat, and smiled softly when the red power button brought the television ahead of her to life. Her grip on Lando's hand eased, but their hands still laid together between their two seats.

By now, Cassie had noticed the presence of Lando's hand in hers, but she sensed no unease from him so she left them clasped together. The warmth of Lando's hand was like a tightly knit wool blanket on a cold winter night. Comforting, inviting, and needed.

Lando laughed when she opened Disney plus once again. "Are we watching monsters inc again?"

She shook her head. "Huh-uh." She hummed, remaining cryptic.
