Clarissa was about to piss herself.

Not really, she only felt like she would because of the nerves. Her mind kept running with all the 'what if's' of today. 'What if I crash?' 'What if I say something wrong?' 'What if I'm so embarrassingly slow that they fire me on the spot?' 'What if I scan my pass and it doesn't work, then I wake up and this is all a dream?'

Her thoughts clouded over the functioning part of her brain, cutting off all her senses, including her hearing. She didn't even know she'd made it to the track until her trainer tugged on her arm.

"Stop that, you're turning red." Brina scolded. Cassie was mindlessly scraping her nails along her forearm while all the thoughts ran laps around her mind.

Since Formula Regional, Brina has been Cassie's trainer. Training not only her body, but also her mind. When Cassie first started racing in F4, she constantly got in her own head, and it would ruin her performance. Since then, with the help of Brina, it's gotten way better.

"Sorry. Sorry." Cassie apologized while shaking her head, trying to physically rid the thoughts from her brain. It worked, but barely.

Brina noticed her state, and knew she was in her head already. She expected it at some point today, just not before they even made it to the track. "Come on, get your head in the game girl." She gave her a hearty pat on the back, and handed over the bag she'd retrieved from the backseat.

Cassie threw it over her shoulder, nodding at Brina. The two of them walked in silence to the paddock, which allowed Cassie's thoughts to spiral again. Brina noticed when she'd hesitated to scan her pass.

"Hey!" She snapped her fingers right in Cassie's face. "What did I say?"

"Yup. Head is... getting in the game." Cassie exhaled and scanned her pass. She thanked the gods when that green check popped up on the screen next to her face.

"I'm going to make you start doing yoga again." Brina threatened. Cassie groaned at the idea. "God, no. Please." She hates yoga, every part of it. She'd rather run a mile.

"Then keep out of your head." Her tone was harsher this time, a hint of a threat in it. That straightened Cassie out. She fixed her posture and took a deep breath.

When the two make it to the garage, Fernando Alonso is stood at the entrance to greet them.

"I want to introduce you to a few others, too." While he spoke like the statement was just that, a statement, he still waited for his future replacement to give him the go ahead.

But Cassie was nervous out of her mind. The prospect of replacing such a legend was scary enough, but now she was talking to the two time championship winner. It's a shocker that her head was still on.

"No, it's alright. You don't need to do that." She didn't want to be a bother, so she waved him off. He didn't care, and only laughed. "Okay, let's go." He said, ignoring Cassie entirely. Brina found that highly amusing, forcing back a laugh, which became harder to do when Cassie sent her a dramatically confused face.

Fernando easily tracked down his first target, who wasn't expecting his neck to be suddenly encircled by the older man's arm. "This is Mick, your new teammate, though if you don't know that I think you need to choose another career." He laughed at his own joke. "He's very handsome, I know. But don't get too attached, he has a girlfriend." Fernando slapped a hand roughly into Mick's chest.
