FRIDAY

The team equipped brand new upgrades for Imola. Everyone had high hopes, so did Cassie. She trusted her team, and if they said the new upgrades were a big improvement, she'd believe it until she was provided counter evidence.

"...Improved aero, new floor and better balance." Chris listed the many upgrades. "We just want you to go out there and get some data so we can see if these really worked or not." Chris explained.

Cassie had her helmet in her hand, ready to put it on and slip into the comfort of the cockpit. She assumed Mick was getting the same talk on the other side of the garage.

And get some data she did.

"Car feels much smoother, if that makes sense." She informed

"It does. You're doing good keep it up."

After she finished her laps and came back into the garage, she peered at the data with Chris. "This is good." He said, not really believing it himself. Cassie beamed, her enthusiasm radiating off of her like the heat of the sun.

"How good?" She asked, optimistic and bouncing on her toes.

Chris shrugged. "Not sure yet. This'll go to Enrico and he'll have a look at it. We'll know tomorrow."

She felt he was holding out on an answer, being sure not to get her hopes up. He seemed just as excited seeing the data as she was.

Soon, she was back in the car again for fp2. Her objective was the same, except Chris wanted her to focus a little more on preparing herself for the race rather than just trying to get data. He wanted a healthy balance of the two.

She drove her laps just like the last time. She found trouble with turn 17. No matter how hard she tried she kept getting a bad exit out of it. Chris noticed.

"Turn 17, try sticking to the right kerb and turn in right before the speed trap line."

On her next lap around, she did as Chris instructed. Sure enough, it was her fastest time of the evening.

"Perfect. P2 and that's session over. Bring it back to the pits, good job."

Chris high fived her once she had both feet on the ground of the garage. "I think we need a handshake." She joked. Chris quickly shook his head. "No way."

"No come on! Just a little one." She pleaded, a huge smile splitting her lips.

Chris sighed. "Fine."

They spent the next five minutes trying to come up with something.

🏁

SATURDAY, qualifying day.

"Honestly. I'm in Italy and you're forbidding me from eating pasta. That's just evil, even for you." Cassie complained, the both of them preparing for the upcoming qualifying session with stretched.
