"Cassie! You're here!" Savannah cheered, abandoning her boyfriend and embracing his rival in a tight hug. She pulled back and peered at her bags. "Come with me, I'll show you which room is yours. It's right next to mine." The blonde smiled brightly.
The room was a decent size. A full sized bed in the middle of the room and a tv mounted to the wall in front of it. Savannah pulled aside the closet door, revealing a walk-in closet. "You can hang your stuff up if you'd like and if you need more hangers just let me know and I'll get you some more. Follow me I'll give you a little tour of the house." Savannah smiled and waved for Cassie to follow her.
While they were inside, Lando showed up as well. Because Savannah was busy with Cassie, Oscar took on the responsibility to show Lando to his room.
They went in through the front door, and since the floorplan was relatively open, they were able to see Cassie and Sav ransacking the fridge. Sav peeked her head out when she heard the front door close. "Oh! Hey Lando, did you just get here?"
"Yeah. This is a nice place, your parents?" Lando guessed, craning his head back to peer at the high ceilings. "Yup." Sav replied, tossing a carton of strawberries onto the counter.
When Lando's eyes gazed back down to ground level, he recognized the girl beside Sav. She smiled softly and sent a small wave in his direction, a half ate strawberry pinched between her fingers. The small gesture had Lando's heartbeat skyrocketing. In an attempt to look cool, he gave a short nod of his head. He quickly regretted his decision and tried to play it off with a small wave. Cassie chuckled at him.

The Scott's backyard was nice, to say the least. Spacious green grass, a sparkling blue pool, and a cozy patio. The sun was just beginning to set as Mr. Scott started a small fire. An arrangement of padded sofas and chairs surrounded the ring.
All of their other guests from their big fourth party had already gone. It left Logan, his parents and Eva, along with Savannah and Oscar, and Lando and Cassie.
Savannah stepped out on the patio, emerging from the back door which let out from the kitchen. She had a new drink in her hand, a glass of something fruity in her hand. Scanning the patio, she realized there was only one open seat; next to Lando.
When she occupied the seat, Lando glanced over and flashed her a smile, momentarily separating from his conversation with Logan. Cassie returned it with a grin of her own.
"So, Cassie," Mrs. Scott—who was sat beside Cassie—spoke up. "Are you and Lando also a couple?"
Lando overheard the question, and quickly drew his attention to their conversation. "Oh, no we uhm..." "Just friends." Lando answered for her, giving a reassuring smile and a nod.
Cassie caught a hint of a saddened tone in his voice.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I just thought- nevermind, I apologize to the both of you." She spoke with sincerity.
"Anyway..." Savannah trailed off, interrupting the tense conversation. "Anyone want some s'mores? We have some stuff inside that I can go run and grab if anyone wants one?"
Cassie hummed. "That actually sounds really good, I'll go with you." She nodded, hopping from her place on the sofa to meet Sav on her way inside.
Once the sliding glass door was closed, Cassie began to break. "Sav, I'm losing it. I don't know what happened, I mean why the hell did I just shut down like that? The question has a simple answer and I just... fumbled." She slumped against the island counter, both of her hands—propped up by her elbows—holding her head up and mushing the features of her face.
"You know what I think?" Sav led off, to which Cassie raised a brow. "I think you actually like him, but you're not letting yourself." She said, tossing two large chocolate bars onto the counter.
Cassie sighed, putting her head down. "I know, but I couldn't—I mean—it would be too complicated."
"I don't think it'll be as complicated as you're making it out to be. Who you date is neither of your teams business."
Gathering the materials that Savannah had thrown onto the table, Cassie shrugged a shoulder. "Maybe."
🏁
Cassie was almost ready for bed. Her hair was done up, teeth brushed, pajamas on. But something was bothering her.
She wandered down the hallway, hoping she correctly remembered which room was which. Reluctantly, Cassie brought her knuckles to a gentle tap on the door. "Come in." She heard his voice call from inside the room.
Upon stepping into the room, Lando looked slightly taken aback. He stood by the bed with a pillow in his hands and his brows raised. "Sorry, I know you're getting ready to sleep." Cassie apologized, closing the door and leaning up against it. "No, don't be sorry. I was just expecting Vannah is all."
When Cassie raised a suggestive brow at him, Lando realized how his confession may have not sounded so right. "Not- not like that." He awkwardly laughed. Cassie chuckled.
The two stood in silence for a moment, Cassie not being able to find her words, or the courage to look Lando in the eyes. "So...?" Lando spoke up.
"Right, uhm, thanks for earlier. I'm not sure what happened to me." Cassie laughed nervously. Still, she was unable to look him in the eyes.
A smile grew on Lando's face. "'Course, Cass." He shrugged. "I mean, I just told her the truth, didn't I?" Lando let out a humorous laugh, taking a couple steps toward Cassie.
"Lando... I've been thinking." There she went again, her nails scraping along the epidermis of her forearm. Lando noticed almost immediately, but didn't say anything about it.
"Oh same, I think all the time. I'm thinking right now." He joked.
Cassie sighed. "It's going to be really difficult for us to be friends."
"No, Cass. I'm fine with just being your friend I-" he was stopped by Cassie's hand on his chest.
"Which is why I think we should try it out."
Lando's brows furrowed, his forehead wrinkling. "Being friends?"
Cassie chuckled at him. "No." She answered simply, waiting for him to figure it out.
It took him a minute longer. "Oh, oh. Really? Are you sure? Cause if you're only saying this because I-"
"-Yes I'm sure."
Lando couldn't hold his smile back. His grin spread from ear to ear and reached his eyes. "Okay. Then what do you say to going to dinner with me on Wednesday?"
"I'd say it's a date." Cassie answered before slipping out the door.
Of course, this arose another problem for Lando—Savannah's model friend. He's tried to give her hints and tell her in the nicest was possible that he just was not interested, but she wasn't picking up on a single one.
He would have to let her down the hard way, and then probably have to face the wrath of Savannah after doing so.
