Brooke's eyes flutter open as a beam of sunlight hits her face. as ethereal as this sounds, its not. As soon as she wakes up her mom yanks off the blankets forcing Brooke sit up and rub away the eye crust.
"was that necessary?" she groans as she forces herself to stand up
"yes, very much so" Her mom says as she puts the blanket down "now start getting ready, first day of school and if you're late I'll disown you" she says walking out of the room like nothing happened
Brooke drags her half conscious body to her closet to pick out her outfit. She ends up taking a black skirt and an off the shoulder crop top. As Brooke finishes putting on her clothes, the doorbell starts ringing non stop and her mom opens it
"oh hello Raya how are you today? excited for the first day" Her mom asks to Raya, Brookes best friend since, well, for as long as Brooke can remember. She makes her way downstairs passing by her mom
"I swear you treat Raya better than you treat me" She whines to her mom, grabbing an apple and taking a bite out of it.
"at least Raya can wake up by herself" Her mom says with a knowing glint in her eyes as Brooke takes her bag and leaves with Raya to the bus
"I'm so excited for school! high school might just be the bestest coolest most interesting pla-" Raya's rant gets cut short as Brooke looks back at the door
"its fine my moms gone now" Brooke says taking another bite of her apple
"I think she might be catching on" Raya says smirking at Brooke as she takes her apple and takes a bite out of It herself
Brooke looks at her not even dazed by being robbed of her apple "well for that to happen she would need to tolerate you for over 2 minutes" Brooke says as she snatches her apple back
Raya hits her on the shoulder gently and looks back ahead suddenly taking Brookes arm and dragging her to the bus stop where the bus is leaving without them
Brooke drops her apple from the unexpected pull "hey!" she says until she sees the bus and runs up to it banging on the side
The bus instantly stops and they get on, the bus driver shaking his head "I don't get paid enough for this" he mutters under his breath thinking no one heard him.
Brooke and Raya sit down at the back as the bus starts driving again, some of the students give them nasty glares whilst they walk down the row. in response Brooke flips them off and takes her seat next to Raya at the back
"you really are a beam of sunshine" Raya and Brooke gives her a nasty look from the side
A few minutes into the ride a guy hops on the bus taking long strides until he reaches the back looking down straight at Brooke.
"that's my seat" he says in a deep voice, staring daggers at Brooke
"there are extra seats" Brooke says matching his stare not backing down
The guy chuckles in response and then gets serious again "I said this is my seat, you move when I say that. are you dumb or suicidal?"
Brooke sneers at his response still not breaking eye contact "you could sit on top of the bus for all I care, you're not special"
the guy gives Brooke a smirk "others would disagree"
Brooke stands up now, staring down this guy and staying In place. She tries to size him up which is kind of sad to watch judging she's much shorter than him but this doesn't stop her "oh really? and who are you again?"
welp this was chapter one of a boring book. not interesting so far as you can see so quit while you can. byeeee
