Naval Battle of Sakalima

(A/N: Map at the end of Feburary 1641)

Sakalima Island, January 5th 1641/1942

The Italian Northern Fleet, supported by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Fleets, prepared to sail out. It was the largest fleet in Italian History, It included 7 Carriers, 6 Battleships, 2 Battlecruisers, 15 heavy cruisers, 20 light cruisers, 100 Destroyers and 80 Submarines.

It was such a large sight that it blocked the seas from seeing the sun in many areas. With over 600 Planes on both the Carriers and the Island of Sakalima, it too, could block the sun.

Never before had such a large fleet been formed for Italy. Many of the ships had broken records to reach the Island, leaving the Sorashima, Venteso and more almost defenseless. This was going to be the sight of History's changing battle.

The Empire of Riem on the other hand, was sending a even larger fleet.

280 Ships, Which was composed of 9 Carrier, 21 Battleships, 10 Battlecruisers, 50 Heavy Cruisers, 40 Light Cruisers, 110 Destroyers and 40 Submarines. Alongside the 630 Planes they had with them, Making it the largest Task force in not only the world, but in history

It had more Submarines, but otherwise, everything else they had less of. The Enemy had much more big guns that them, most of these ships had been built in less than a year or 2, which was a impressive feat.

But this was where the Empire of Riem gave a crucial flaw in their battleplan.

Most of their Veteran Ships and crews had been killed during the past year due to fighting the Italians, more so for the Pilots. This left the rest of them to be lacking in training and combat, which meant that they would be fighting the Italian with a Green Fleet.

As for Italy, they had learned a lot from the last year of naval combat and air battles.

It thought them how the enemy fought, how they moved. Many Crews and Pilots had quickly became Aces of Gunnery and Fighter Aces, many Captains of ships had seen combat, knowing how to fight.

The Italian Ships and Planes were controlled by a Veteran Force, not yet the elite force the propaganda said it was, but it was getting there.

The Italians knew they had to destroy the Empire of Riem's fleet to the last ship, ensuring not a single ship survive, doing so would destroy their Naval Capacity, which given the enemy had around 460, would be a crippling blow.

For Riem, this was a all or nothing fight, if they lost, they would have nothing to defend the islands with or supply them, leaving 710 000 Soldiers stranded and open to Invasion. To them it was either to win or to lose the war.

Currently, the Riemish fleet, which was divided into 4, smaller fleets, each of them sailing in a different route to Sakalima, where they would then merge to fight the Italians.

However, the Italians decided they would strike the first decisive blow, coming from under the seas.

The Italian Submarines, were already moving to create a blockade of where the enemy could travel by. The goal was once one of the fleets were found, to send the nearby Submarines to attack, with the goal of sinking the destroyers, light cruisers and battlecruisers.

On January 7th 1942, the Italian Submarine, the RN Fuzzi, located the most northern of the Riemish fleets. It had 3 Carriers, 6 Battleships, 3 Battlecruisers, 15 Heavy Cruisers, 10 Light Cruisers, 30 Destroyers and 10 Submarines.

A total of 77 ships, this was the largest of the 4 fleets, it was also the closest, being just within range of the long range bombers.

The Naval Battle of Sakalima was set to begin.
