Empire of Riem, Horoshima, July 17th 1641

Horoshima, 1 of the most naturally defendable Islands in the world, thick stone ridges, beaches without cover, little forests and more. To the 21 000 Defenders, who knew the Island down to the grain of sand, It was the perfect weapon to defeat the Italians.

They used the months of waiting for them to come to continue to expand their defenses, deep underground, where they planned to use confusion to defeat the Italians. While they waited for the fated battle, Minor Islands fell to the Italians.

These islands were extremly small and had little if any value to both sides, but it was better to destroy them now than to wait until it was too late. The attacks which italy did went much better than was expected, with all of them destroyed quickly.

Costing Italy 1000 Killed for 36 000 Riemish, furthering the noose around Riem.

On land, Marshal Messe Continued his attacks against Riem, carving a path, during the entire Battle of Horoshima, He would annihilate the ground army of Riem, inflicting over 160 000 Killed, wounded or captured.

His attacks destroyed Riem's main army, seeing them all broken and forced to pull back, many officers and the last of their Good Generals, killed themselves rather than to be the one to tell Emperor Jiku V that they lost again to servely smaller forces.

For Italy, All at the lost of only 5000 Killed and wounded. it was a clear display of modern warfare that the Empire of Riem simply could not match. Every Maoish town that was freed, the Italians were welcomed as Liberators.

Marshal Messe would also trap the 5th Army, made of Maoish soldiers between them and Papaldia. It was a total of 76 000 soldiers, Yet another of the Marshal's stunning string of Victories in the War.

On July 14th 1641, The Italians had finally arrived to Horoshima. After surviving a small attack from Riemish Kamikazes, which did not hit a single ship, The Bombardment began. 

Bombers and Ships bombarded the Island for 3 entire days, shelling the main defenses, unaware that they were barren, with wooden weapons, to give the Idea that they had prepared for the attack without giving away their true weapons.

But today, was the day the 25 000 Marines were to hit the shores.

The Riemish soldiers watched as they got closer and closer, hundreds, if not thousands of Landing Crafts were coming to the Shores. They began to uncover their main defenses and guns, aiming for the enemy.

Pre-sighted areas were already loaded with mines which the Italians had not all destroyed.

Once the Italians were just 500 meters from the Beaches, all hell broke loose.

Coming out of foxholes, Riemish Soldiers with bombs on them, charged the Italian Tanks and Half-Tracks. Many were gunned down, a few of them managed to reach their targets, blowing themselves and the Italian Vehicle.

Things were already off to a rough start. As the marines moved inland, to find cover, they were attacked with unrelenting fury of many units, attacking with the intent to die.

Like on the Other Islands they had to take over the course of the war. Units were use to such horrors and nightmares, simply cutting them down as they stood and attacked. Soldiers in the rear, to prevent the enemy from using the dead as weapons, burned them.

By the end of the day, all the Marines had landed and taken a good defensive position to land their heavy guns and the rest of their equipment.

They had lost 88 Killed and over 500 Wounded, But had killed 1000 Riemish Soldiers, which, including the bombardment, brought the total dead to 2000. They had taken a few POWs, but the Italians were not in the mood to spare any soldiers.
