The Naval Battle off Altarus

Kainish 1st Fleet, Seas Near Altarus, April 25th 1646 (1947)

The Kainish 1st fleet, which in reality was 3 fleets in one, Made its way toawrds Altarus and Papaldia. They were there to turn their cities into ash. They were commanded by Admiral Kan Hipp.

It included 11 Carriers, 9 Light Carriers, 13 Battleships, 54 Cruisers and 214 Destroyers, for a total of 301 warships and 1130 Planes. It was the largest fleet around. A Fleet so large, Earth would be in awe at the size.

Or so they thought.

What Admiral Hipp cannot see, are 292 Papaldian ships under Admiral Pierre Suffren rapidly approaching.

He was outmatched in almost every area. He only had 16 Carriers, 21 Battleships and Battlecruisers, 45 Cruisers, 180 Destroyers and 30 Submarines. In Addition they had 1120 Planes with their carriers.

But over 4000 Missiles which Italy had built, were placed in Rodenuis and Altarus, they were there to bombard the Kainish from far away.

They also had Riemish POWs join a special corps of pilots in outdated planes to try and destroy enemy ships.

Currently, both fleets were unaware of the other, the distance being more than 500 Kiloemters from each other. Both sailing at 15 Knots, right towards the other.

It isn't until 4 hours later, at 9:37AM, that a Kainish reconnaissance plane spotted the Papaldian fleet.

The battle was now on as both fleets sent out their planes.

The fate of the world rested on their victories or defeats.

Skies over the Seas of Altarus, 10:30AM

Papaldian Pilots flew towards the kainish fleet, in total 480 Planes, including 240 Dive Bombers and 240 Fighters, the Papaldian AD-4 and F4U-7, Based off of their Earth Counterpart. But both being close to 730KM/H in speed.

Many of Papaldia's Planes resembled the Americans with their Tanks copying the Italians.

They all hoped to catch the Kainish off gaurd, while they were still outfitting their Planes with bombs and torpedoes. 

As they saw the enemy fleet, so large that it blocked the seas, they came under fire all of a sudden.

''Bandits! 2 O'clock!'' Someone yelled

A force 300 Kainish KW-201, The Next Generation of Carrier Planes, It was a KW-190 with a new engine, allowing it to reach 800KM/H, 70KM/H faster than the Papaldians.

The Battle was on.

Papaldian Pilots in the Fighters, rolled off and engaged the KW-201s, at the same time, many AA guns began to open fire onto the AD-4s as they approached.

The air battle was brutal as the Kainish, having lost many elite pilots from the years of war, fought the more veteran pilots of Papaldia. But they had more speed and were able to fly around the Papaldian Pilots.

The losses began to mount. More so as the AD-4s dived to drop their bombs onto the Kainish fleet. But the firepower was too great, most bombs failed to hit anything but the Light Cruisers, Destroyers and a Single Battleship.

They're shot down like fish in a barrel. They just don't survive. Many planes of Papaldia are turned into firestorms within seconds or minutes.

410 of 480 planes for Papaldia are lost in 32 mintues, The single most destrutive lost in human history. Never had a Air battle gone this badly. 

The Kainish lose 4 Destroyers, 1 Light Cruiser and suffers light damages to 25 other ships. They also lose only 45 planes.

It seems that Kain has struck the decisive blow. It seemed that Victory was in their hands.
