Josslyn Jacks sat on the porch swing, her heart heavy. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the garden. She'd just broken up with Dex Heller—the guy who'd promised to be there for her, no matter what. But sometimes promises shattered like fragile glass.
Morgan Corinthos, her older brother, joined her. His eyes held a mix of concern and understanding. "Joss," he said, "you okay?"
She sighed. "Not really. Dex and I... It's complicated."
Morgan chuckled. "Relationships usually are. What's bothering you?"
Josslyn leaned back, the swing creaking. "I thought I knew what I wanted. But Dex got offered a job with the PCPD, and suddenly everything changed. I mean, he's risking his safety for the greater good, but it scares me."
Morgan studied her. "You're worried about him."
"Yeah." Josslyn twirled a loose strand of hair. "And I'm worried about us. What if he gets hurt? What if we end up like Mom and Dad—always torn apart by danger?"
Morgan's gaze softened. "Joss, love isn't about avoiding pain. It's about finding someone who's worth the risk. Dex—he's got a good heart. And you—you're strong. You'll figure it out."
"But how?" Josslyn whispered. "How do you know when to hold on and when to let go?"
Morgan leaned closer. "Listen, sis. Sometimes, you need to trust your gut. But also listen to advice—even when it's hard."
"Advice?" Josslyn raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah." Morgan grinned. "Remember when I was head over heels for Kiki Jerome? You told me to slow down, to think things through. And you were right. I didn't listen, and it blew up in my face."
Josslyn chuckled. "Yeah, you were a mess."
"But you were there," Morgan said. "You gave me advice, even when I didn't want to hear it. And now, I'm giving you some. Dex—he's got his reasons for taking that job. Maybe you should talk to him, really listen."
Josslyn nodded. "You're right. Maybe I've been too caught up in my fears."
Morgan stood. "And remember, sis, love isn't about avoiding pain. It's about facing it together."
As he walked away, Josslyn watched the stars emerge—one by one. Maybe Morgan was onto something. Maybe love was about whispers of wisdom, shared between siblings, lovers, and broken hearts.
And so, Josslyn picked up her phone, ready to call Dex. Maybe they'd find their way back to each other, guided by the advice of those who'd loved and lost before them.
