Monday 3rd January 2pm.
Williams stares at me with a shocked expression, "Aurora I know this must come as a massive shock to you and I'm so sorry this is happening to you sweetheart, you have such a bright future ahead of you and this is only a small kickback you will get back on your feet and become the amazing women I know you're destined to be" Williams finishes his motivational speech with tears collecting in his eyes. I fight back the urge to roll my eyes and look at him with a bored expression. "Williams stop being soft" I say with a shadow of a smirk "what happens to me know, I'm not going to a care home." I continue staring into Williams soul for a bit of fun.
"Hello dear" the older women in the room speaks up "my names Agnes and I'm your assigned social worker, this is Ben" she points to the young looking police officer, "Ben is one of the officers that has taken a role in your parents case, he wants to ask you some questions about your parents and how you grew up" I see the other two men at the back of the room stiffen when Agnes says parents "if it's not too much to ask I'd like for you to go and speak with Ben now whilst I talk to your principle, when you come back we can talk about what happens next." Agnes finishes, I look at her and I mean really look at her, she looks like she's lived a long life filled with hardship but also a lot of love, she has evident care and compassion in her eyes and because she looks like a kind soul I decide to listen to her and follow Ben into an empty classroom opposite Williams' office.
"Ok Aurora I'm just going to ask you a few questions but I want you to answer honestly can you do that?" Ben asks with a kind smile.
"Yup" I respond popping the p.
With a nod of his head he continues getting a pad and paper he begins "ok Aurora. What was your relationship like with your parents?"
Damn he really shoved me in the deep end didn't he
"I hated them, they were both fat assholes." I said with not hesitation, if they're going to jail I may as well make their stay a bit longer like the loving generous daughter that I am.
He stiffened and gave me a curt nod. "How so?"
"Ben they didn't love me like parents should love there kids, they abused me physically and emotionally, they neglected me, look at my appearance how long do you think it's been since they fed me a good meal? Your coworkers are going to see the conditions I lived in when they searched the house, I didn't even have a bed or a bathtub" I said with a bored expression and a humourless laugh at the end.
"Aurora I am so sorry" Ben said as he shakily made notes in his pad with a pink pen that made me smirk.
"It's fine, i got used to it after the age of 6" I mumbled.
He froze, "how long did the abuse last?"
I smiled sadly "everyday since I was 5"
He stiffened.
"Ok Aurora this must be hard but can I ask, did they ever touch you.. I mean... d-did they e-ever touch you inappropriately" he asked clearly uncomfortable.
My breath got caught in my throat momentarily as I froze. Those memories I'd rather forget but I will tell Ben, in the name of justice! I suppressed a giggle as I thought about my dramatics.
"Yes." I said "many times, it first happened when I was 12, mark would even sometimes bring his friends round for some 'fun' too" I said, I felt a lump forming in my throat as I fought back the tears.
"Ok Aurora you're a fighter. Last question, did you know about their drug selling business?" Ben asked hesitantly.
"Who do you think tipped off the police Benny?" I sat back in my chair with a smile.
