X sighed, redrawing the sigils for what seemed like the 50th time.
He'd gone into this knowing that there was a small chance he would actually succeed, but it had all seemed like exaggeration! Regardless, he couldn't stop now.
He had to see Four again; he had to get this guilt off his back.
He relit the blue candles, memories both good and bad coming back to him.
' "Now, don't go TOO far you three, the cliff is only so large!" Two and Four's mom called teasingly to the children before heading back inside the safety of their home. Two shouted back a quick "okay!" before they all ran off, stopping at the cliff's edge to admire the view. Two sighed contently, his arm around Four's shoulder. X stood by Four's side, holding his hand.'
' "It's so dark down there," Four noted, leaning off the edge of the grassy cliff to look at the dark void below." Nobody knew what was at the bottom, or if there even WAS a bottom. X held Four's hand tighter, and Two smirked at them.'
' "You guys are sooo in love" Two remarked smugly. Four made a face at him, and blush was evident on X's face.'
' "We are NOT in love!" Four screeched in embarrassment, letting go of X's hand and shrugging Two's arm off of himself. X looked away quietly; he never was a fan of their sibling arguments. Two shrugged in response.'
' "If you say so I guess," Two spoke, elbowing Four in the side. X smiled, patting Four's back.'
' "He was just joking, Four." X assured his friend. Four exhaled softly, rolling his eyes and standing up. X always felt like the youngest, despite being the same age as them, due to the fact that he was much shorter than them.'
' "...I know." Four said, taking hold of X's hand in a softer manner as he stared at the appearing stars. X squeezed his hand, liking the feeling. Two scoffed good-naturedly, taking hold of his brother's other hand, and the trio went silent, staring at the disappearing sunset and the darkening sky with a feeling of contentment.'
'This would last forever.'

X breathed a sigh of relief as his preparations finished up.
It had to work, he wouldn't rest easy without it working once.
He connected the last lines of sand, making sure that his blue mixture coated every grain. He sucked in a breath of anticipation, lighting the last candle with a nervous fervor.
This time, something happened.
A blue glow flashed, covering every inch of his room in a bright blue light, despite the fact that the candles had blown out. A slow breeze started, before intensifying into raging winds that blew the sand into a small storm.
X watched through squinted eyes as something came to shape inside the indigo sandstorm. Melted wax that had long since hardened remelted, before becoming a substance that X didn't recognize. He watched as the blue, sticky material was quickly sucked into the storm.
Finally, the winds calmed down, and the sand settled into four piles, forming a box. The candles sat on each pile, relighting to form the glow of a barrier.
But that wasn't what surprised X.
Inside of the blue, translucent box was a person he had never met- but a person he was sure was Four.
Dressed casually, a demon was on the other side of the barrier, horns and all.
And it stared right at him with stormy blue eyes.
