X turned around, ready to head home.

Someone tapped his shoulder, and X yelped, almost tripping over his own feet. He almost fell when the stranger caught him by his arm.

He tilts his head to see...Four?

Alright, he's dreaming, isn't he?

X stares at Four, who gives him a blank stare in return and lets go of his arm. X rubs the warmer spot on his arm.

"Did I go unconscious while walking...?" X murmurs. Four stays silent, drawing their claws back in a restrictive manner as X turns around to face them. The human takes in a deep breath.

"Hi, Four." X mutters. Four blinks out of their unfocused expression, giving X a quick 'who, me?' kind of look before refocusing.

"Ah-hi." Four responds. An uncomfortable silence is held between the two before X decides to start them off with what he's best at. Apologies.

"I would like to...apologize for the decision I made. It was selfish of me." X forced the words out like thorns, ignoring the way they dragged out in a slow, painful manner. Four said nothing, taking X's hands in their own and rubbing circles into them.

"I've...forgiven you already. I too would like to give...an admission of my guilt. The way I treated you that day was unwarranted." Four spoke, avoiding X's gaze.

X waited with bated breath as Four continued.

"I regret yelling at you, as I too have my own flaws." Four seemed a bit more nervous as they continued, staring at their intertwined hands instead of X. " I was just afraid to lose you to One's devices. They are not the most trustworthy deity in Hell, and are, ironically, the strongest of us all. I feared that they would do something out of my control."

X blinked. Was Four...apologizing?

"I have used the last couple days to-reorientate myself and my memories, and I have also been sorting out my...mess of an emotional state." Four's grip on X's hands tightened slightly, and X relaxed himself.

"Hey! X!" Four looks over X's head, and X turns around to see Three running towards him. The flammette stops in front of X, panting.

"I didn't expect to run into you on a beautiful night like this." Three said cheerily. X gave him a warm smile in return.

"Likewise. How's everything going for you?" X asked. Three grinned.

"Great, and I'm grateful for it." Three looked at Four, who was standing uncomfortably behind X. "Who's this?"

Four opened their mouth to say something, but X beat them to it. "He's a good friend of mine. We like to look at the stars together." X chirped. Three nodded, holding out a hand for Four to shake. The deity shook it.

"My name's Three." the reddish human greeted. Four studied him dubiously.

"...I'm Four." The demon responded quietly, pulling their hand away and flexing their fingers. Three let his hand fall to his own side, and X smiled.

"Oh, X, I meant to ask; I know we don't know each other that well, so maybe you would like to meet up for coffee after work tomorrow?" Three questioned innocently. Four's eye twitched, but they stayed silent for X's sake.

"I would love to! Does 6 o' clock work for you?" X responded. Three nodded.

"I'd better get going- I need to get some sleep!" Three exclaimed. X yawned, silently agreeing, and with a wave, Three left.

"You need sleep too, little buddy." Four murmured, placing their hands on X's hips. X was about to protest when he was lifted into the deity's arms and teleported them directly to X's bedroom. The demon laid X down carefully, tucking him in delicately. X shivered, drawing the covers up to cover everything except his eyes.

"What's with the sudden...gestures?" X asked, skipping over the invisible but implied word 'affectionate'. Four hummed, a small, proud smile on their face.

"I usually tuck you in like this. You're just asleep every time I do it." Four admitted shamelessly. X blinked.

"I...thank you, Foury. I appreciate it." X whispered, sleep weighing down on his eyelids. Four brushed a hand over his eyes, motioning for him to close them.

"Go to sleep. You need it, quite desperately in fact. I'll see you later darling." Four murmured.

X nodded absentmindedly, finally drifting off to sleep.
