A couple weeks had passed, and Two and X had gotten closer.
However, there hadn't been any sight of Four, and the whispers were almost deafening.
Let's just say that X lacked a couple nights of sleep.
X laid in bed, listening to the night terrors in the shadows. There was nothing there, but the sounds of his imagination always left him restless.
X sat up and shifted towards the doorway, surprised when the noises quieted.
Four slipped into view, and X couldn't have been more happy. Four, however, wasn't as joyous as the human.
"X, why is Two here of all places?" Four hissed. X furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why can't he be here? He needed a place to stay because he didn't know how to do the weird teleporty-thing that you do." X shot back. Four growled, tail lashing back and forth. His clawed hands fell to either side of X, and the demon loomed over him.
"I spent weeks looking for him after he ran off, and he was here of all places? The one place I couldn't visit because I had to hunt him down instead? Do you understand how frustrated I am?" Four whispered, eyes narrowing.
X didn't like that look.
It was the exact same look Four had given him on that day.
"I'm sorry Four, he didn't tell me he was running from you. I should've asked." X responds quietly.
Four studies X for a moment before his gaze softens, small pools of regret pooling in them. "It's okay. I shouldn't have yelled at you." Four admits.
X cracks a small smile. "I thought apologies weren't your forte, Foury." X teased. Four's eyes widen in realization.
"I-that wasn't an apology! That was- uh, an admission of guilt!" Four reported. X giggles, smiling warmly at his friend.
Some motion in his peripheral vision makes X look behind Four to see Two. Four, noticing X's averted gaze, also turns his head back.
Behind them is Two, standing in the doorway with their jaw dropped to the floor.
X blushes, and Four raises an eyebrow.
"Am I- uh, interrupting something?" Two questions, putting their composure back together. Four narrows his eyes at them, glaring at the green deity.
"You are. Get out." Four hissed him. Two stuttered a bit, eventually rushing away from the doorway.
X frowned. "Four, that wasn't nice! Who knows what Two thought of that, seeing this out of context!" X scolded.
Four chuckled, spreading his wings as a display of privacy as he leaned down close to X's ear.
"Darling, I don't give a damn about what that upstart thinks. Your thoughts are much more important than his~" Four replied quietly in a teasing tone.
X went silent at the remark, inwardly panicking at the close contact, when Two suddenly burst into the doorway.
"Unhand my friend, Four!!" Two screeched, and Four yelped as a burst of energy flew through his wing, burning a hole straight through it. Four hissed, whipping around and pouncing on the green demon.
X sat there, stunned for a moment, before he decided to deescalate the situation. He stepped out of his corridor to see Four and Two...tussling? Play fighting? No one seemed to be getting hurt, but every horribly-aimed shot of energy that Two let loose ended up bouncing around his house wildly, eventually hitting Two or Four as they rolled around.
