Four paced outside the room.

Usually, even if a demon was permitted to keep their memories, they never remembered what happened inside the room.

And they weren't ever allowed to experience it again.

Four growled. He could sense that X was distressed, but he couldn't leave. Not yet.

He had to wait for Six.

After what seemed a millenia, Six finally emerged from the room, horns and all.

As soon as the light of hell's environment hit the new demon, the cyan deity blinked, confusion overcoming them.

"Thank fucking god. You were taking forever, you son of a-" Four started, only to be cut off by Six.

"...how come I can't remember the last hour of my life?" Six wondered aloud. Four rolled his eyes.

"It's standard procedure. But you should remember everything else, correct? I requested for you to keep your previous memories." Four responded. Six thought for a moment before twitching his tail.

"Yep, yep yep yep. Now can I see Nine?" Six replied. Four sighed, rubbing his own face.

"We have to make a pit stop first, but sure, we can visit your girlfriend. Real quick, what's your speciality now?" Four asked, teleporting the both of them to the cave connecting Eight's office to the outside environment of the hellhole.

Six grinned. "Chaos, obviously."

X was spending the weekend in Nine's house.

The both of them had gotten a week off for 'grievance', so X spent the weekend and the first day of it at Nine's house, residing in her guest room during the night.

Nine was deep in grief, often spending most of her time in bed or in front of the TV, despite X's best efforts.

It worried X.

Before Six's passing, Nine was a cheery, adventurous person. She used to go to parks on the regular, and always loved shopping with her friends.

The way her fiance's death had affected her worried X, but there wasn't anything drastic that he could do about it.

X was watching the TV boredly next to Nine, but he dared not to reoccupy himself. If what Nine needed to recover was his company, then he would provide it to her. She was his friend, and he knew Six would hate to see her like this.

X did, however, refocus his sight on a different corner of the room, where, oddly enough, X's night terrors were acting up.

He knew it was late in the night, but his terrors had been gone for a long time.

That was until he noticed Four staring at him from behind a door.

"Four? What are you-" X saw his frown and shut up. Luckily, Nine was too occupied to notice X's concerns.

X followed Four's redirected gaze, turning around to see-

-Six?

X stared at his passed friend, who was now a demon. Six made a shushing motion and grinned, hovering behind the couch he and Nine were sitting on.

Nine, finally noticing X's odd behavior, tilted her head and saw Six.

Nine gaped at Six in utter shock, trying to process what was happening.

Six opened his arms and smiled at her; a softer, kinder smile that X didn't see him often. Nine's eyes filled up with fresh tears, and she leapt at the demon and tackled him to the ground. Six laughed, wrapping his arms around his partner.

X watched them over the couch, happy and amazed.

But he couldn't help feel sad too.

Because, in the back of his mind, he knew that he and Four could've had a similar reunion, had it not been for the fact that Four had lost all his memories.

Six looked up at X, wearing a grateful smile through his happy tears.

"Hey, X. Thank you." Six acknowledged. X gave him a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.

But it didn't matter.

It didn't matter at all
