X sat down for lunch as usual with Nine. As soon as she saw him, she immediately started chatting about her day. X listened, stirring at his food. Nine eventually noticed his boredom, slapping a hand over her mouth.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry I'm yapping again-" Nine rambled out a lengthy apology, which X listened to just barely enough of.

"I-it's okay Nine, don't worry about it." X smiled at her. Nine shook his shoulders frantically.

"Noo, it's not, spill your day, NOW." Nine insisted. X sighed, proceeding to pull up the parts of his everyday work day that he knew Nine would love. Nine listened, occasionally letting some commentary slip through.

X glanced at his phone, noticing some of his colleagues starting to file out of the lunchroom.

"Aw mann, lunch is over!" Nine whined. X laughed lightly, patting her back.

"I'll see you around, Nine. Tell Six I said hi- do it after your shift, this time." X spoke. Nine giggled, waving goodbye to her friend.

-

X returned home, feeling a bit more energetic than usual. He didn't know why, but he chalked it up to the sudden return of his sleep. He entered his bedroom, settling on

Two was curled up in his green corner tent, reading one of X's books. X peered at him, and was willfully ignored.

The human sighed, flopping onto his bed and letting his thoughts run wild. Regrettably, the first thing- will, person- he thought of was Four. His memories drifted back to the dream he'd had.

Was Four being serious? Or was he just hallucinating?

To be fair, Dream-Four had acted oddly. He'd been kinder. Jealous, yes, but also kind and considerative. And, unfortunately for him, he'd been around pre-death Four and rebooted Four to know that those personality traits weren't always hovering at their surface.

Four gave pretty tough care, it had always been a thing with them. If he thought X would get hurt biking, then they'd force X to not go. Or, as of late, if they thought that X was in potential danger, they'd threaten him to back up into safety instead of explaining their thoughts to X.

It irritated him sometimes.

Especially since Four had always considered Two as a threat, or at least, ever since Two had taken his friends.

-

'X listened to Four rant yet again about Two, and about how they'd taken the majority of Four's friends.

Four was a pretty social person, but they tended to be a bit...aggressive when displaying affection. X knew that their friends had been ticked off by this 'tough love' of theirs, but Two arriving for petty revenge had seemed to be the last straw.

He'd been there and had watched as Four's friends LITERALLY abandoned them. The few that had stayed behind seemed uncomfortable, wary even, to be around Four.

But Four had been so distraught over the event- their own brother turning on them, convincing their friends to leave them. They'd felt so broken, almost convinced that X was going to leave them too.

But X knew better. He'd stayed, wiping away Four's tears and giving them a hug, calming them down. Gradually, the situation with Two had deescalated. But Four still ranted about it everyday.

X stayed silent as Four continued to rage about it. Personally, he didn't get it. The situation was months far behind. Why couldn't Four just let it go?

It was only when he noticed that Four had gone silent and stared at him that he realized he'd said that out loud.

The rest of the conversation was a blurry shouting match that ended with Four slamming the door behind him. That day was also the day that had ended in Four's death

Sometimes he thought that if he could've just stayed quiet, then Four would have been by his side.'

X snapped out of thoughts, feeling disappointed.

Four was still mad at him, and he was mostly alone. Again.

Two was there, but the deity was absorbed in a book, and would only be roaming freely when X slept. He missed the days where Four would arrive and they would talk and eat fruits, but he supposed the lonely feeling was just a consequence of his own actions.

In all honesty, X truly wanted to apologize. But he didn't even know where to start; and that was assuming that Four would hear him out in the first place.

X felt his eyes droop shut, his low energy finally cutting off as he fell into a dreamless sleep.
