Their communication had its ups and downs. It was normal for Jennie to disappear for a few days, and sometimes for a week, during which Jisoo was nervous, afraid that she might get into another mess. Oh, yes, the brown-haired girl was constantly getting into trouble somewhere, even though she didn't say anything about it. Her bruised knuckles and bruises on her face said a lot more. What if she was killed or took something wrong? What if she overdosed and died in some dirty basement? God, there were a lot of options for what could have happened, but every time, fortunately, they turned out to be wrong. Jennie appeared again, as if nothing had happened, near Jisoo's place of work, waiting for her to end the working day, as if she had not disappeared.
"Everything okay?", "do you want to talk about what's going on with you?" — this is not a complete list of Jisoo's constant questions, to which she invariably received an answer in the form of tense phrases like "Jisoo, believe me, I It's okay, I don't need help" or "Don't try to get into my head. You think that something terrible happened to me, some kind of loss or other psychological trauma that caused me to get hooked on drugs, but there is nothing like that. I do what I do, that's all. You just don't understand, believe me, I have everything under control." Constantly shaking hands, deathly pale skin and a sickly appearance suggested that Jennie was far from under control, and Jisoo had no idea how to help someone who didn't want it.
-So, you haven't talked about that guy for a long time, does he still bother you with his calls?- Jennie asked casually one day, munching half a sandwich without much appetite, which Jisoo almost forced her to take.
-His name is Jin, and you know it perfectly well.- Jisoo rolled her eyes.- Yes, he's still bothering me.- The brunette put down her coffee and rolled up her sleeve, showing a clear bruise in the form of someone else's fingerprint around her wrist.- I'm working on it, I think...
-What the fuck is he doing?- Jennie abruptly interrupted the girl, jumping up from her seat and coming close to her to gently take her hand, carefully examining the bruise.- How did this happen? Has he done this to you before? Have you contacted the police?- The questions sounded harsh and demanding. In an instant, she went from relaxed to ready to kill.
-Hey, calm down.- The brunette, a little scared, grabbed Jennie's hand, squeezing it hard to attract attention. The girl seems to have concentrated too much on her bruise and her anger.- He never hit me or anything like that. Jin came to my office, wanted to talk, but I already told him everything, so I tried to leave, and he grabbed my arm to hold me back. Colleagues quickly stepped in and made it clear that he was not welcome. So it's all good, really.- Jisoo smiled softly, looking into the eyes opposite, noticing that Jennie was beginning to calm down.
-Where can I find him?- Jennie asked more calmly, but still harshly. Their hands were still joined, so Jisoo could feel how much the other girl was tense.
-Jennie, stop it.- Jisoo was a little scared and at the same time flattered by such an acute reaction of the brown-haired girl.- He's harmless and won't do anything to me. Besides, what are you going to do with him if you meet him? Are you going to make him take drugs?- The last part was supposed to be a joke, but after saying it, Jisoo realized herself that it sounded more like another reminder of Jennie's addiction. The brown-haired girl, surprisingly, reacted calmly to these words, only clenching her jaw harder and sighing heavily.
After this conversation, they didn't see each other for more than a week. Jennie disappeared again, and Jisoo had no choice but to continue working and hope that everything was fine with the girl, which became more difficult every time. The brunette forbade herself to try to figure out the reasons for her strange attachment to the brown-haired girl. Only a fool would not have realized that all their casual touches, soft glances and long walks had long ago grown into something more than how friends behave. But surely Jisoo couldn't have fallen in love with this girl? No! Absolutely not. Jennie is the last person with whom it was worth trying to build at least some kind of relationship. Okay, the penultimate person. In last place was definitely fucking Kim Seokjin, a dodgy and lying asshole. Not only did he cheat on her throughout the three months of the relationship, he also stole from her bank account. Jennie was a damn junkie, which meant she was capable of a lot of things too, including breaking Jisoo's heart. So no, there was no way Jisoo could fall in love with her. Friendship and nothing more.
