Even when Jisoo's weekend came to an end, Jennie didn't protest and, surprisingly, easily agreed to stay with her again. She already looked much better: the abrasions were healing, the most prominent bruises had turned yellowish, and others had paled noticeably.
Jisoo's first day at work was a living Hell. Since morning, Lisa had been pestering her with her questions and moralizing. Being her best friend, she knew everything that was going on in Jisoo's life, and considered it her sacred duty to guide the brunette on the right path. Closer to lunch, Jisoo seemed to have managed to soften her friend's opinion of Jennie, assuring that the brown-haired girl was on the path of correction. And anyway, who cares? After all, there is nothing between them, they are just friends. Lisa only smiled skeptically at such assurances from her friend, but stopped reproaching, although it is more likely due to wild occupation. After lunch, the calls came one after the other, so there was no time for unnecessary conversations.
In Jisoo's memory, it was one of the hardest days of her entire career. As it turned out later, a press conference was held in the neighboring area by some person from the Government, so several ambulances, firefighters and police were sent there on duty. So the part where Jisoo worked was forced to work in a larger area, replacing temporarily missing cars.
Everything would be fine, but it seems that on this day people themselves began to fly off the rails. First they came across a distraught old lady who almost demolished the pharmacy. She had to inject a large dose of sedative before being taken to the hospital for a mental health check, but she still managed to dump one of the shelves on Lisa and kick Jisoo with her foot.
Then things only got worse. A shootout in a criminal area. Jisoo was more glad than ever, realizing that Jennie was at her house, and she did not need to look at the faces of the dead and wounded, afraid to find a brown-haired girl among them. The worst thing is that a few random passers-by got shot, who had nothing to do with gang fights.
Jisoo felt like a squeezed lemon, her whole body ached from overexertion, and Lisa didn't look any better. Firefighters and rescuers from the unit in which they worked looked at the girls sympathetically, they were more lucky, there weren't so many calls.
Before the end of the working day, they managed to take four more calls: an accident due to a drunk driver; they received a call from a woman who went into premature labor; heart problems of an elderly lady and an attack by a stray dog on a cyclist. Sometimes the girls barely had time to hand over the patient to the doctors at the hospital, as they were already sent to the next call. Even their boss, who was not particularly compassionate, understood that this was too much and promised a good bonus for the work done.
-No...- Lisa groaned in a long voice. She had just managed to blissfully stretch out on the couch in the break room when the alarm went off again, notifying about the ambulance call. Jisoo was of the same opinion. There were only ten fucking minutes left until the end of their working day. Their colleagues were already changing clothes and preparing to leave. Happiness was so close, but alas, they had to leave.
Jennie must have gotten used to Jisoo never being too late at work, because their working days are strictly regulated, so she began to worry, because Jisoo was delayed for more than three hours. It was just beginning to get dark when the brunette finally got home, barely moving her legs, almost colliding with a nervous Jennie at the front door. The girl was just putting on her shoes, looking pretty determined and ready to find Jisoo.
-God, Jisoo, I almost lost my mind.- The girl breathed out in relief, impulsively hugging the stunned brunette.- Are you okay?- Pulling away, Jennie stared intently at the haggard face, not hiding her concern.
-It's been a hard day.- The answer sounded somehow mechanical and emotionless. In another situation, Jisoo would have been touched by such sweet care, but now she wasn't paying attention to anything. She didn't have any energy at all.
