-Who is this?- Lisa asked, feeling an unpleasant shiver run down her spine from the guys' appraising gaze.
-Baby Cameron.- Ella explained instead of her sister, immediately answering the unasked question.- Yes, the one who shot his cat when you first arrived.
-Do you have any problems with him?- Jisoo asked, snuggling closer to her girlfriend and clasping her hand.
-No, he's just a terribly annoying guy. I don't like that kind of person.- Jennie shrugged her shoulders. Not wanting to spoil the evening for herself or the others, she tried to relax.
-Every school has its bully.- Rose said, trying to ignore the noise at the bar, too.- Cameron was always picking on everyone, and a lot of people were intimidated by him. And then Jennie appeared, who suddenly put a huge bolt on him, without reacting to him in any way.
-So you were protecting the weak?
-Hell no.- Jennie snorted.- I didn't care about some slob who couldn't fight back. Cameron was just taking on too much. The senseless violence was stupid, and it was even stupider to start bullying Rose and me. We got pulled apart a couple of times, but he got what he wanted, so he realized it was better not to mess with us.- Jennie sighed, kissing Jisoo soothingly on the corner of her lips.- It was back in school, it's been ages since then. I don't care about him right now, but he's still the same asshole stuck in this town on his dad's farm.
The evening continued. Everyone was slowly sipping their cocktails, not eager to get drunk. Except that Rose drank one shot, but then, once again carried away by conversations, she stopped paying attention to alcohol. And everything could have been really great if it hadn't been for the constant shouting from behind the bar.
Cameron and his friends were apparently celebrating something while in high spirits. They were annoying with their loud laughter and conversations, but in general, no one cared about them until they paid closer attention to the table where the girls were sitting. Maybe they just got bored and decided to have fun like that, or maybe alcohol started acting.
Looking at Jennie and Jisoo, it was immediately clear that they were a couple. The way they touched each other, shared quick kisses and occasionally whispered intimately about something left no doubt. And it looked cute. Even Ella, far from all this cute nonsense, couldn't help but mentally note how good these two look together. But Cameron decided to use this to start throwing homophobic jokes and rather offensive phrases. Jisoo barely managed to stop Jennie from going to him.
-Just ignore him, he's not worth it.- Rose reassured her friend once again, glad that the owner of the bar, Dani, who was standing behind the bar himself, had finally intervened, asking Cameron to shut up.
Watching Jennie gradually relax, listening to the conversation that Rose started with Ella and Lisa, Jisoo was sincerely glad that her girlfriend had such a patient and understanding friend. It seemed to the brunette that Rose was basically impossible to get mad. Outwardly, she might try to seem like a carefree idiot most of the time, but there was an inner core of unshakable calmness and some kind of composure in her. From the stories of Jennie and Rose, the girl had already realized that the blonde was the one who followed Jennie all the time, always trying to solve her problems by peaceful methods. However, what surprised Jisoo the most was that Rose so quickly decided to move to live in a completely unfamiliar city in order to help her friend cope with her shortcomings. Jisoo even thought for a while that Rose might be in love with Jennie, but looking at them, this thought disappeared by itself. There is more of a family element in their communication and interaction.
-... so everyone just believed you were killed in the line of duty?- Lisa's voice came to the brunette, bringing her back from her thoughts to the girls' conversation.
