conversed silently between themselves, chuckles thrown in every now and then to show they were having a lighter conversation. As always, Marilyn was seated near her boyfriend, a protective arm thrown over her shoulders as he played cards with the men at the table. Marilyn had access to few books, but would rather read than play a meaningless game only to win cigarettes.

She wasn't one who smoked, nor did she like it when Bucky did. However, with the conditions they were forced to live in, she had little effect on whether he smoked or not. She caught a glance of Bucky reaching for a pack of cigarettes, shaking her head before going back to reading her book.

She had read it time and time again as it was one of the only ones she could read. Bucky's arm abandoned her shoulders, the lack of warmth sent a shiver down her back. She looked over to see what made him move from the comfortable position. His hand switched to holding a lighter, swiftly lighting up his cigarette and placing his arm back around Marilyn. His available hand taking the cigarette from his mouth, exhaling in the process.
