34) Revovered.... Mostly, And the Return Of Tanjiro's Morbidly Obese PossumTanjiro sat up. Since when the fuck was he in the butterfly mansion."good morning." Shinobu said as she walked in the room. Tanjiro stared at her with a blank face. She smiled and pat his head slowly.
A more awkward encounter for Tanjiro. Mainly because Shinobu is always angry. He can smell it. Even though she's always smiling, it's never from joy or simply because she's happy. It's because she's angry.
So her being so kind is a bit of a surprise to him. He honestly expected her to hit him on the head. She scares him sometimes.
"Try to stop getting so injured." She asked of him, before leaving the room. He didn't move for a second. He wasn't getting that injured, I mean compared to the day that Nezuko died he was fine.
His head wasn't bleeding. Or his shoulder or back. His leg was injured and his arm. His stomach had a stab wound that had been expertly bandaged. So all in all he wasn't really dying or anything.
Tanjiro had decided to just shrug it off and go look for someone. The possum.
Shinobu had said he could keep her, so she should be here. Tanjiro looked around outside, making that weird noise single people use on the street when trying to pet cats.
Eventually she came out of whatever bush or shrubbery she was hiding in to sit next to him. He reached his hand down to gently pet her head. She nuzzled into the touch and dragged him down so she could comfortably lie in his lap.
"If I'm correct, you're not supposed to be walking!" A man yelled from behind him, startling the boy and possum. She jumped off his lap and dashed to a nearby bush.
Tanjiro looked up to be met with Rengoku. He bore the same recovery uniform that Tanjiro had now found himself in often. "Come, let's talk."
They sat on the nearby engawa, both still and silent. It had been ten minutes, and Tanjiro honestly felt like he was going to have a heart attack. What did he want to talk about?
"Thank you for saving me from that demon, even though you got injured, that was quite courageous of you." He was more quiet than usual, he didn't have a deadlock stare in Tanjiro's eyes. He instead looked straight at the flowers that Shinobu most likely planted.
Tanjiro brought his hands into his lap. He glanced down at the pebbles his foot carelessly swing over, his, not yet healed, leg was still.
You could barely notice it, but a slight look of guilt panted in his eyes. He might have saved Rengoku, but why couldn't he save anybody else?
"Honestly, when you were so quiet with me it scared me! I thought you might have disliked me!" Tanjiro deadpanned and looked over at him. Rengoku had officially lost him.
"But Shinobu told me that's quite normal with you, hahah!" He turned his head towards him and smiled. Tanjiro didn't know whether to be offended or not. What the fuck does that mean?
In all honesty he thinks he talked to Hanako more than him. Hanko barely knew what his eyes looked like, let alone his voice. He felt kinda bad honestly, he scared the living daylights out of her at times.
Tanjiro has heard it a lot before. And he knows it. His eyes are terrifying, especially in the dark. He knows that from when he got home late. Hanako shrieked and ran outside. They looked for a few hours before his mother found her.
He bowed his head as low as possible in apologetic means. She was crying the entire time because she felt bad about it. She was too sweet to die.
He decided to ignore the memories that leaked back into his mind. He might actually cry if he keeps thinking about it. So he turns his attention back to Rengoku.
At least give him a response. "Sorry..." was all he muttered out. Rengoku tilted his head. Tanjiro already made the assumption that his hearing wasn't the best due to his frequent yelling.
Tanjiro shook his head slightly. "Forget it." It was still quiet, but at least he was trying to be loud? Rengoku was about to respond, but his crow landed near him on the engawa, letter attached to its leg.
"I'll see you later, my boy!" He pat Tanjiro's head and stood up, wobbling slightly. He managed to straighten himself up before leaving with his crow and the letter.
Tanjiro remained where he was seated. He smelled somebody else. He knows this scent from somewhere. It's a girl, she hasn't been there the entire time. Just recently. Behind a wall.
He heard the metal of a coin being flipped. A girl stepped out. She wore a butterfly hair clip almost identical to Shinobu's if it weren't for the coloring.
She sat down night to him, both of them just sitting there in silence. He watched her flip the coin again, her eyes softening. "Hello." She said. Her voice was smooth and calm.
She seemed quiet. Conversations would be hard, if she even wanted to have one. "Hi." He muttered back. He watched her flip the coin again. She stayed silent.

Miss Shinobu said she doesn't want this boy walking around. But he's not really doing anything right now. Should I tell him to go back inside to rest? He seems fine right now.
I flipped the coin to see it land on tails, again. He's fine right now, I guess I don't need to tell him.
He stared up at the clouds. He's so quiet. I can't really say anything though.
He turned his head back to me and pointed to the coin. I looked at him, confused. He pointed to the coin and made the motion to flip it in his fingers, like he was asking about it. I'll tell him if it lands on tails.
I placed the coin in my hand and flipped it. It landed on my hand as tails.
