*Third Person's POV*:-

"Do you think that after that girl comes in this house everything will be alright ?," a frustrated Komal asked her husband Abhijay.

Abhijay took a deep breath and said, "Komal we can atleast try and Nishtha is the daughter-in-law of this house. This house is as much hers as it is ours. Do you understand ? What will Ranvijay's in-laws think about us ? It's been three years that we haven't called Nishtha to her original home now."

Komal knew she couldn't win this against her husband but she wasn't going to lose quickly. "She might be a daughter-in-law for you but not for us. She is the reason Ranvijay is not living with us here. I last saw him three years ago in that damned court and then didn't see him again. Najaane uss ladki ke aane ke baad kab dekhungi apne bacche ko.," Komal cried.

Abhijay supported her shoulders understanding her concerns for her most loved grandchild. "Komal, Nishtha deserves a chance, please give it to her. For me.," Abhijay said.

"Dekhte hain aisi kaunsi jaadu ki chadi hain uss ladki ke paas jo itna bharosa hain aapko uspar. Bula lijiye apni bahu ko.," Komal said and wiped her tears angrily.

"It is God who does everything, perhaps even this marriage was destined too. Let's not anger the God by going against his wishes. Hey mere murlidhar madat karna.," Abhijay prayed looking at the photo of the Lord and called his friend.

A few days later the order was implemented. Nishtha was called to the Rajput mansion as soon as her graduation day was over. And yes she did arrive.

Outside the lavish Rajput Mansion stood a petite figure with a suitcase, a carry bag and a shack bag. She eyed the mansion in awe but didn't let the emotions be seen on the face.

"Such huge mansions and they don't have place for a single girl.," she scoffed mentally.

"Nishtha the palace has enough space. Its their heart that doesn't want to give you a place.," a 21 year old, Nishtha whispered to herself.

Yes, she was standing at the door of the Rajput Mansion. She had graduated and after spending two months with her family she was now waiting for a new door of her life to open.

Yesterday was her birthday as well as the 3rd wedding anniversary but like always no one from her in-laws wished her.

*Nishtha's POV*:-

I took a deep breath and walked towards the mansion door. Ringing the bell I waited for some good minutes for someone to open the door. "The house is huge, obviously takes time to reach the door," I taunted.

At this the door opened but no one was at the door, but I could clearly see 4 ladies sitting on a couch talking among themselves.

I stepped inside and a splash was heard. The cold water touched my feet wetting my track pant near my ankle. I looked down to see a maroon coloured water forming a bug puddle in front of me.

"Sorry, the house is being cleaned, so I didn't see you on the door.," looking away from my feet I looked up to see a woman dressed in a uniform. Her tone of apology felt more like a taunt to me and did I misunderstand or was there a smirk on her face ?

"It's okay, hojata hain.," I replied. "Aise kaise ? Mamta ! The eldest daughter-in-law of the house has come and this is how you welcome her ! How careless of you ! Look she has got wet. Please ignore her follies and enter inside Niya.," the eldest of the ladies spoke- my dadi saas.

Did she call me Niya or I made a mistake while hearing ?

The maid instantly rushed away while dadi gave me a sickly sweet smile. I looked at the muddy water in front of me, there was no way I could jump over this puddle.

"Aao na Niya," the other lady, my chachi saas called me out wrongly. I looked her bewildered, did they really not see the big puddle or was I imagining. "Aree aao na Niya," the young woman said, my nanad ji, Ridha called me.

I smiled a little and removed my flip flops, putting them on my bag I lifted up the bags in air and water through the water.

I went near dadi and bent to touch her feet. She instantly shifted her feet behind making me look up at her in shock. "Maili ho tum, pehle jaake fresh ho aao phir pair chuna,"(You are dirty, freshen up first and then touch our feet) dadi said in a strict tone. "Humare bhi," chachi said stopping my advances by showing her palms.

I nodded and looked away feeling embarrassed. "Dadi my room ?," I asked in a low tone, the little excitement I had, had vanished into thin air.

"Ramya ! Ramya ! Come here and please show Niya the guest room..," my mother-in-law instructed the maid again using a wrong name for me.

I didn't correct her again, I guess they were playing some stupid prank on me. But the mention of guest room cleared all my misunderstandings, they had made a clear line between us. It was an indication that I was just a guest here and not their daughter-in-law.

The maid this time seemed a little better than the previous one. She was a middle aged lady with a warm smile on her face.

"Chaliye aapko aapka kamra dikhati hu,"(Come I will show you your room) she said and asked me to follow. I smiled appreciating her polite tone.

"Please 'aap' mat bulaiye mujhe, Nishtha chalega, main chhoti hu aapse.," (Please don't refer to me as 'aap' and instead call me Nishtha) I said.

"As you feel fine," she replied quickly adapting to the change of informality.

"Here is your room, if you need help just ring me up, I will send someone for help.," Ramya aunty informed. I nodded and whispered a small, " Thank You."

The room was spic-span clean. With a huge ceiling and the rich wooden furniture, it excluded a feel or royalty. And to my likeness there was a big balcony too, it gave me a view of the Western Ghats.

The bathroom too was big with a walk in wardrobe and a Jacuzzi but mind it I use a tumbler to bath.

After looking around I laid down on bed to clear my mind and ready myself for the upcoming challenges, my stay here surely wouldn't be like an icing on the cake.

The guests here surely receive a king-ly treatment. And the daughter-in-law gets her name wrongly called out. Hypocrisy.

*Third Person's POV*:-

The ladies of the house giggled as soon as Nishtha was out of sight. "Niya ? Seriously mom ? Kya direct attack tha ? Aur chachi, aap toh puri apni film ki villain lag rahi thi,"(That was a direct attack ha mom. And aunt you were like a villian of some daily soap) Ridha said in between her laughter as she high-fived her chachi.

The females laughed ignoring the foot marks coming from the door. Unknown to them, the greh pravesh for the lakshmi of the house had taken place.

The maroon footprints, though made of red soiled water were a symbol of the humble welcome she received.
