*Nishtha's POV*:-

My eyes opened in darkness, when I twisted and double tapped my phone screen. “21:48” the time showed making me wake up with a jerk. I last remembered looking up at the dome ceiling and then fell asleep.

Shit. I was late for dinner. Opening my suitcase, I took out the first pair of clothes my hand reached out to. A white coloured kurti set with strips. I combed my hair with my fingers and tied a pony of my hair.

Rushing outside I paced through the corridors which were now lit with bright light. Following the route I remembered I reached the living area. While the ladies were still present there, now the men too had come. “Lo aagayi,” I heard a scoff from chachi perhaps. I quickly bent down to touch dadu’s feet who blessed me, “ Jeeti reh.”

This time dadi too blessed me but no words of blessing came from her. I touched every elder’s feet and smiled greeting Ridha. Chachu, Vardhaan and Rudra were the only ones absent.

To be honest this felt really awkward. I didn’t know what to say now, the greetings were over. “I hope the journey here was easy?,” dadu asked. “Yes it was.,” I answered politely, “sirf 1 ghanta auto dhundhne laga, kyuki koi yaha aane raazi hi nahi hota,” was silent.

As everyone talked about their day, I was ousted from their conversations completely. I looked around impatiently, my eyes searching for the man who relates me to everyone here. Yes, my husband.

Gulping the nervousness I gathered courage to ask them about me, “Dadu, Where’s Ranv…Ranvijay ? I didn’t see him since my arrival.,” I stuttered at his name, it was honestly the first time I was taking his name in a conversation.

My toes entangled in nervousness as silence fell in the room. My saasu maa stood up and walked away causing papa ji toh follow her. “Till the time you are here I doubt bhai would even come home.,” Ridha said in a rude tone. But what did she mean by that.

“Ridha !,” a stern glare was passed to her from dadu. “It’s the truth dadu,” Ridha muttered and went away stomping her feet.

“Bacche, Ranvijay is out of the country for business.,” dadu replied answered with an open end. I nodded understanding his need to not talk further.

“Ranvijay se yaad aya, ghar mein nayi aayi ho. Toh dekha jaaye nayi bahu ke barabar ho tum. Tumhe nahi lagta ki suhaagan ka shringaar larna chahiye tumhe,” dadi stated.

I didn’t know how to reply to this and stayed quite. “Chalo shringaar na sahi, chooda, sindoor yeh sab toh pehen leti. Shaadi ke baad toh pehna tha na ?,” she asked.

I nodded in a no, “ Woh, we don't have these rituals at our place so..,” Dadi huffed as she scolded, “I don’t know about your rituals but you are in my house now. And what I say follows. So start wearing your nuptial signs until your husband comes and the ceremonies take place.”

“Ji dadi.,” I said. Dadi too left from there with chachi following her. “Puttar Komal is a little angry headed woman, please don’t take her words to your heart she means well for you.,” dadu said smiling.

“That’s fine dadu, I understand. And by the way I am starting my office from tomorrow.,” I informed.

He nodded saying, “ Theek hain jaisa tumhe theek lage.” Saying this he too went away leaving me in the living room alone. My hunger had as if vanished so I decided to explore the mansion.

A garden, a huge terrace, a swimming pool and a huge land full of trees in the back. With 54 rooms and 60 washrooms, a gym, a modernised kitchen ranging across 4 floors, the mansion was huge. I was tired by the time I reached my room.

I set up my cupboard, took a hot bath, changed into my night suit and got into the comforter and slept.

*Third Person’s POV*:-

The alarm rang at 6:30, sign for Nishtha to wake up. With a groan and messy hair she pulled herself out of the bed and brushed her teeth. Getting into her yoga wear she did yoga and exercises for half an hour and the had a 10 minute bath. She had her office wear already kept on bed, so coming out of the bathroom she wore her clothes and stood in front of the mirror.

She looked at the small vermillion box, she had chosen a very aesthetic package for it but after the day of marriage it was not removed for the first time. Her hands shivered as she touched her anamika (ring finger) pad on the sindoor layer.

Parting her head properly she dabbed the finger on her hair line, leaving a sight hue on her finger pad. She fumbled with the hook of the chain and tied it right after repeated attempts.

She still remembers how the nuptial chain was very brazenly forgotten by a family who is so strict about the rituals. Only her heart knew what stress it gave to the 18 year old her.

Getting married on the day you turn 18 was not something she expected. But that had pulled her to the real world. Long lost was the Nishtha who would sleep till 11 in the morning and day dream romance.

The Nishtha now had lost almost all her chirpiness and excessive talking. She only talked when needed even with her family. Waking up and doing some form of exercise and learning how to cook became her daily routine.

Her focus on studies increased which resulted her being the gold medallist of her batch, earning herself an internship at YoursTruly Hospital at 19 and becoming a permanent psychologist there at the age of 21, just a month ago.

This was not all to divert her mind from marriage she even started writing. Going by the pseudonym of “Nameless", she became a best selling author of two thriller books. ‘The Land of Lives’ and ‘Yours Truly’, both of them selling 98 million copies and 102 million copies respectively.

Remembering her journey of success till now she prayed to the god for a success to earn this family’s love too.

The maids in the kitchen had already prepared the breakfast, Komal and Naina who had just woken up were shocked to see her on the breakfast table. “Good morning dadi, good morning maa,” Nishtha greeted.

Naina felt a sense of fulfilment hearing maa from her. But she immediately shook her feeling and the two ladies replied in a “Hmm.”

“ Would you like some tea ? I am making some for myself.,” Nishtha asked sheepishly. “No need and yes, please don’t step inside the kitchen again, we don’t like guests doing the work.,” Naina said taking the cup from the dining.

Nishtha’s mood fell hearing her. “Ji,” she said. “Dadi I will buy the chooda today.,” Tanisha said touching her feet. “Aur maa, bye bye,” Tanisha said with mischief as she pressed a kiss on Naina’a temple and ran away to the door with her bag leaving a shocked Komal and Naina behind.

“When did she wake up ?,” Naina asked Ramya. “She had been waiting in the kitchen by 7:30.,” Ramya replied.
Naina relished at the strong taste of the chai which released all her stress but earned glare from Komal.
