"So, you're Hong Hae-in."

Seated across from Hae-in at the table was Hyun Woo's older sister, Baek Mi Seon. Her sharp tone, dripping with calculated coldness seemed so out of place in the warm atmosphere of the house. Given her background, Hae-in had met her fair share of vultures, and the way Mi Seon was scanning her from head to toe to assess her worth reminded her of that.

But it goes without saying that Hong Hae-in wasn't easily intimidated – though a part of her wanted to leave a good impression on Hyun Woo's family.

With a shrug, Hae-in met Mi Seon's gaze without flinching, her posture straight and confident. "Yes," she replied calmly, her voice steady.

Mi Seon leaned forward, her demeanour more intimidating than friendly. "Where do you live?" she asked, her tone bordering on interrogative.

"Seoul," Hae-in answered nonchalantly, her tone equally firm as she crossed her arms over her chest.

Mi Seon smirked, clearly unimpressed by Hae-in's nonchalance. "Uri Hyun Woo..." she began, launching into a thinly veiled boast, "He's decent. I'm sure you want him. He's smart and handsome. So..."

"What are your intentions with my brother?" Mi Seon demanded, her voice sharp.

Hyun Woo, unable to bear the tension any longer, interjected through clenched teeth, "Noona! Stop interrogating Hae-in!" His voice was stern, and his pleading eyes practically screamed, "Stop embarrassing me".

"What? You don't ever bring girls back to our house," Mi Seon argued, her voice dripping with accusation. "And she doesn't look like your type."

Now, that caught Hae-in's attention.

Hyun Woo visibly paled, caught between his overbearing sister and the girl he loved.

Hae-in brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her smile, once soft, now held a hint of steel. "What exactly is his type?" she asked calmly though the edge in her voice was unmistakable.

Mi Seon, sensing an opportunity to stir the pot, launched into a detailed description of Hyun Woo's supposed ideal girl. "Soft and pure girls," she emphasised, her tone dripping with condescension. "Someone who needs protection."

Hyun Woo groaned inwardly, his face flushing with embarrassment. He squeezed his eyes shut, wishing he could disappear into thin air.

Not now...

Must his sister do this to him?

"He's always said so ever since his first year in high school." Mi Seon ended with a proud smile on her face.

Hae-in threw Hyun Woo a cold look. "Is that so, Baek Hyun Woo sunbaenim?" She pressed threateningly.

"Yes, that used to be my type." Hyun Woo's hands shook as he thought of a way to salvage the situation.
