With the suneung and finals just around the corner, the students of Hanil High were all locked in, their focus entirely on studying. The classrooms, once bustling with chatter and laughter, were now filled with the sound of pens scratching across paper and the occasional rustle of a textbook. Desks were lined with seat cushions to help students endure the long, exhausting hours of studying while milk cartons, energy drinks, and an assortment of snacks littered the tables.

Night study had become a daily routine for the students, with many staying in the classrooms well past the usual hours, sometimes until 10 PM or later. It wasn't just about preparing for exams anymore; it was about surviving the grind, each student trying to hold onto some semblance of focus amidst the stress.

Hyun Woo had settled into this rhythm himself. His days now consisted of attending classes in the morning and afternoon, followed by a brief swim to release some of the tension that had built up throughout the day. And of course, his nights were devoted to revising his materials and completing timed practices.

But alas, such a routine came with its sacrifices. And Hyun Woo wasn't just talking about the sleepless nights.

No, what hurt the most was the absence of Hae-in. It had been days since he last saw her – aside from the brief moments in the mornings when he'd deliver gimbap to her.

He missed her terribly. The long hours of studying felt even more draining without her by his side, and every hour spent hunched over his books seemed more depressing without Hae-in's smile to lift his spirits.

Unfortunately, they had made a deal

Unfortunately, they had made a deal. From now till the suneung was over, they agreed to focus on their studies. Afterwards, they would have all the uninterrupted quality time they wanted.

As the understanding boyfriend he prided himself on being, Hyun Woo had relented. He understood her drive to succeed and respected her dedication.

But it sucked, truly.

He wondered how she was doing.

Unbeknownst to him, Hae-in shared his sentiments. Though she kept herself busy with her academics, deliberately keeping her distance to honour their agreement, her thoughts would often wander to Baek Hyun Woo.
