As we quietly walked through the streets of that town, Bella and I were both struck by a restaurant.
We exchanged one glance and without the need to add anything else, we agreed to get in.
We sat on the terrace of the restaurant
and in a table that overlooked the seaIt was really beautiful.
I immediately felt better. We ordered tortillas for both of us, Bella had a vegetarian poke, I ordered the same.
Bella suddenly closed the menu in her hands and looked in my direction with an amused expression as she crossed her arms."What's going on now...?" I asked nervously.
Bella placed a hand on her chin and raised an eyebrow.
"Let's play a game... shall we?""What kind of game, Bella?"
"One question each... just one rule: tell the truth."
"Are you in...?" She asked at last. She definitely has this kinda of teasing humor that makes me lose my mind...
and of course I agree to do that game."You get to start, Ellie..." She said, leaning smugly against her chair.
I felt like I had known her for much longer than just two days... yet I felt that I wanted to know her in a deeper way...
This game could help me get through that.I decided to start in a "soft" way, though.
"I still don't know what zodiac sign are you..." I asked embarrassedly."Aries. Impulsive, exuberant... that's me."
"That doesn't surprise me..." I burst out laughing.
"Also... I bet you can't stand people telling you what to do..." I added more seriously.
Bella winked at me. "Bingo!"There is something about her whole personality this that is... extremely hot...
She giggled: "Alright... what's yours?"
"Pisces. Vulnerable, emotional..." I shrugged my shoulders.
Bella smiled warmly. "You're sweet, Ellie and caring."I think she could read inside me, more than I was able to do myself.
I thanked her for this."It's your turn again..." She affirmed.
My face got all concentrated.
"You can ask me anything..." Bella suggested.I can't concentrate on anything she's saying cause all I do is zoom in on her hands, on her dark red nails or the details on her beautiful face.
Her full lips, her long red hair..."What makes you most angry?" I asked at last.
I came up with that question because... she always seemed so unbothered and confident.Bella didn't think about that for a moment.
"Lies makes me angry."
She clenched her jaw as she said that. One moment later she smiled again.
"Have you ever fallen in love at first sight?"Oh, shit.
This hits me, somehow.
My heart won't stop pounding and my face turned red.Bella rested her chin in her hands looking right into my eyes.
Her gaze had become penetrating and I felt a chill run down my spine."I think ... maybe ... I don't... I really don't know if I can call it that way..." I stammered confusedly.
Bella won't stop looking at me with those big brown eyes as her expression gets very interested.
I still don't quite understand... why this question has this effect on me...
It was my turn again. I had to ask her a question as quickly as possible.
"What's your biggest flaw?" I asked.Stupid question.
I was confused.Bella sighed softly: "Being stubborn, definitely. And I guess I can be a little competitive... especially when I can't get what I want." She murmured nervously moving her hand through her hair.
Hmm... interesting.
Bella doesn't have the need to think about a question as she spoke right away.
"What makes you happy?"It took me a few moments to talk.
"I think... succeed at something I thought I would fail at... makes me feel good. And also... being able to share it with peope I love."My heart skipped a beat as I said that last sentence.
Bella looked at me cryptically, as if she was deciphering my answer.
I shook my head. "Maybe I misspoke..."
She tilted her head in my direction.
"No, sweetie." She whispered softly.
"I totally understand what you mean."I fucking knew she would understand that.
"Do you have any regret?" I asked.
Bella let out a doubtful sigh, then looked toward an indefinite point on the horizon. "Sometimes when I get angry I say things I don't mean. I have a lot of regrets about that."
I just can't imagine this thing about her.
I looked inside her eyes, I believe she didn't feel like talking about it more than that... so let us set that aside for the moment.
"If you could visit a place in the world, where would you go?" Bella asked a moment later.
"Paris." I affirmed. "I've always dreamed of going to Paris."She smiled as I said that.
"What's your biggest accomplishment so far?" I asked right away. We're getting into it, by now...
Bella ran a hand over her lips, blushing slightly: "Well, I'm proud to have graduated."
"And... my job, I guess... although I hate to admit it sometimes." She was more serious when she said those words."Why?" I immediately asked.
My trembling heart began to beat rapidly.Bella's expression was still too composed but hesitant: "Sorry, one question each, Ellie..."
I bit my lips.I had recently find out that Bella was working in Joe and Leo's society.
So that means she was working with mine... and her boyfriend too.
She told that, while Joe had not even dared to tell me, who knows why...By looking at her expression now, she had imposed herself to assume a neutral expression.
But she was definitely concealing something...She slowly raised her eyes from her glass.
"What are you afraid of?" Her voice had lowered in intensity.
It was like she was a afraid herself to ask me that.My heart began to pound again without me being able to do anything to calm it down.
"I'm afraid of..."
I sighed deeply.
"Losing ... and disappointing people."
My voice had also dropped at least two tones as I bitterly said that sentence.Bella let me metabolize my own words, then softly placed her hand on mine.
She was somehow sad about what I said."Ellie, if you want to stop, you can tell me..." She whispered, squeezing my hand.
A smile returned to my face.
I just knew I could count on her.
"No. I'm fine. Really." I said, squeezing her hand to reassure her. It's up to me again...
"Why?" I immediately asked.
Bella stared at me without blinking, waiting patiently for me to continue."You said that you hate to admit that you like your job... why?" I added.
I desperately needed to know why.
