"Hi, can I get a small hot chocolate with cold foam on top, please? It'll be to go," Cerise smiled nicely at the barista taking her order.
She felt Saint tap the back of her hand twice.
"Make that two, please," she added.
"Is that all for you today?"
Cerise glanced up at Saint briefly before looking back to the barista and nodding.
"That'll be $8.40," the barista informed her.
She grinned as she was the first to pass over her crumpled ten-dollar bill from her dress pocket. She stuck out her tongue at Saint as he stared down at her unamusedly.
Cerise stuffed the change she was given into the tip jar, and Saint followed it up with the twenty-dollar bill he was still holding before gently pulling her by her hand to sit in the comfy-looking seating area.
"Thank you so much, I'll have that out for you shortly!" the barista called after them.
Cerise swayed slowly to the low music filling the bustling coffee shop, her fingers tapping to the beat on Saint's knee.
"This so cozy," she mumbled, "I can see it being a vibe here later in the evening."
Saint nodded, throwing his arm over her shoulder as he looked around.
Cerise wasn't one for overly mushy PDA, but she couldn't help the few kisses on his cheek. She was overflowing with affection as his eyes slid to her, and faint lines carved his cheeks around his lips as he smiled at her.
She spotted something on his cheekbone and grabbed his chin to angle his face more toward her so she could inspect it closer.
"You have an eyelash," she whispered, and he closed his eyes as she carefully swiped at his cheek so she wouldn't accidentally poke him with her nails, "Okay, got it."
Saint's dark lashes opened again, and his hand raised as he brushed a thumb over his eye.
"You see this?" she held up the long individual lash to him as it rested on the tip of her finger, "Not fair. Only good ol' Benny can bless me like that."
"The fuck is Benny?" Saint uttered his first words since stepping into the coffee shop.
"The bill, baby," she giggled, "Benjamin."
He looked at her finger again, blowing the lash away before kissing her temple, "You want your lashes done?"
She crinkled her nose, "Not really. I got them once before and my eyes hurt so bad I had no choice but to pull them off. It took forever for my eyelashes to grow back."
He hummed, looking into her eyes.
"I love your eyelashes," he said, "They curl like lotus petals."
That settled it. Any interest Cerise had toward trying lash extensions again disintegrated into ash.
Suddenly, she wasn't so insecure about her short C-curl lashes anymore.
Her name was called as the drinks were ready, and they got up to collect them at the pickup counter.
"We're throwing in some cake pops too, as a thank you," the barista that took their order smiled happily, "Happy Valentine's Day!"
"Aw, thank you!" Cerise grinned as she looked at the pink heart-shaped treats on sticks, "I hope you have a good day."
Her eyes shifted to the cups and she saw the cold foam topped with chocolate drizzle, depicting hearts with arrows through them.
"Ooh, that's so cute!" she grinned, whipping out her phone to take a picture of the edible art.
