I woke up that morning very slowly. I didn't want to open my eyes or move because the bed was so warm and Guadosalam was pretty cold. Eventually the need to pee forced me to open my eyes. When I did I screamed and fell out of bed and hit the floor with a thud.

"SEYMOUR!!!" I yelled popping up from the ground scowling at him. The cocky son of a bitch was sitting in a chair by my bed with that smug smirk on his face that he always had. 'Gahhh how I hate your fake ass smile!'

"Yes?" He said pleasantly.

"Why are you in here?" I grinned out through my teeth.

"I'm allowed to be anywhere I wish to be in my own house."

"Okay, why were you watching me sleep! That's weird man." I said coming around the bed to stand in front of him with my hands on my hips.

"I tried waking you up but you simply rolled over and muttered something about a cookie."

".............I don't even know..." I said stumped on what to say to that.

"What do you wish to do for the day? I'm free till about the afternoon."

"Can you help me with my magic casting?" I asked.

"Very well." He said picking up my bow and quiver from the ground. I pulled out one arrow and help in in both of my hands and sat on the bed. "Just think of one of the four elements. Think about how it feels and moves them call out it's name. Then direct the flow of magic to your staff ,or hands in this case. then push it outwards towards your target."

"That's it?"

"It's not as easy as one would think." Seymour warned me. I rolled my eyes then shut them and focused on fire. 'Fire is created when something flammable is heated up to the point of combustion. Heat is just molecules moving at a fast pace. It doesn't defy gravity because it always points up. It moves in waves almost like a fluid but it's not.' I felt warm all over but as hard as I tried I couldn't direct it all to my hands. I began to sweat as I continued to try. The longer I tried the hotter I got until I felt like I was burning alive.

"Do not push yourself so hard Mae. No one gets it on their first try. It's usually their third or fourth try that they start to get it." Seymour told me.

"Shut up Seymour! It's not like this will kill me." I gritted out through the pain.

"It can and will."

"Who cares." I shot back not backing down even though my heart was starting to beat at a thousand miles. I started to get dizzy and shook violently.

"Your being irrational." Seymour said forcefully. I could feel him getting up out of the chair and hovering over me.

"Really? I'm the irrational one? I have nothing to give you so why not let me die. After all you plan on killing me and everyone in Spira anyways. Who cares if I would to die now." I hissed at him weakly containing my tears.

"STOP." Seymour yelled grabbing my shoulders and shaking them roughly until I opened my eyes up. The burning and pain was instantly relieved but I was pissed now.

"Why Seymour! You do not care! You care about nothing not your people, not me, not even your mother!" I said getting into his face. His face contorted into pure frustration and rage. For several moments all we did was shoot daggers at each other until he stormed out of the room. "Don't let the door hit you on your way out." I called out to him as the door shut with a bang.

I through myself on the bed then screamed into my pillow. Once I had satisfied that, and a few tears, I got up and tried to cast a fire spell on my arrow once more. For hours I tried without pause constantly pushing myself to the limit. It was my tenth try when I had finally been able to move the warm felling to my hands. It was the sixteenth try when I was able to cast the fire spell onto the arrow. It was that second that I was able to do so my arrow glowed faintly red.
