I woke up bobbing slowly up and down in the ocean. I gasp and instantly frail about in the water looking around in all directions. I find myself and Tidus off the shore of my favorite village Besaid. The water was the most clearest, crystal blue I have ever seen. The white sand on the beach slowly made way to a forest. There was a nice salty scented breeze blowing around us chilling my skin.
"Rikku!" Tidus shouts from a small distance away for me. A ball came flying towards us, I duck out of the way but Tidus catches it.....with his head. Once it dropped into his hands he looked down at it with wide eyes."Blitzball!" He yells. 'Good job caption obvious. Someone get him a prize!'
"Hey! You two okay?" Wakka called out to us from the beach with his team at his back looking onward in curiosity.
"Heeey!" Tidus waves happily to him the submerges under the water and comes back up kicking the ball to them. Even though I had seen him do it several times from the game it was just more amazing in real life. It could be compared to seeing a video of someone doing a back flip or being three feet from them as they did said back flip in real life.
"Whoa-ho!" Wakka says as me and Tidus swim to the beach. Tidus is a much faster swimmer then me but hey I know how to get out of a river current and keep my head above water so I say I pass.
"Yo! Hiya!" He said rather awkwardly.
"Sup." I said nodding my head up once. 'The sand was hot as hell, I wish Rikku would of gotten me a pair of socks or something! Now I was going have to bum a pair from Wakka.' I thought backing back up into the wet sand.
"You wanna try that move one more time?" Wakka asked handing him the ball. Tidus does the same move but this time on land. It was more impressive on land then it was in the water. "You're no amateur. Who you play for?"
"The Zanarkand Abes!" Tidus blurted out gaining strange looks from Wakka and the other Blitzball players. I face palm and grumbled a bit to myself incoherently.
"What team you say again?" Wakka asked.
"Uh, I meant... Forget that. I got too, uh...close to Sin and my head's all foggy-like. So I don't know where this place is. Or even where I came from." He said feeling lame about it. 'Nice save....not.'
"Sin's toxin got to you. But, you're still alive. Praise be to Yevon! All right, back to practice! You Guado?" He asked turning his attention to me, the other Blitzball players all get back to practicing.
"My name is Mae, I too got to close to Sin and can't remember where I came from but yes, I'm half Guado." I said. Guess it was my turn to feel lame saying the excuse.
"Half Guado? Wow the only other known half Guado is Master Seymour. Well I'm Wakka, coach and captain of the Besaid Aurochs, brudda. What? You two hungry?" He asked and right on cue my stomach rumbled rather loudly. "Okay! Back to the village. I'll get you guys somethin'!"
"It's true Zanarkand was destroyed, right? A thousand years ago? So it's just a big pile of rubble now, isn't it?" Tidus asked.
"Long time ago, there were a whole lot of cities in Spira. Big cities with machina--machines--to run 'em. People played all day and let the machine do the work. And then, well, take a look. Sin came, and destroyed the machina cities. And Zanarkand along with 'em. Yeah, that was about a thousand years ago, just like you said. If you ask me, Sin's our punishment for letting things get out of hand. What gets me, though...is we gotta suffer, 'cause of what some goofballs did way back when! 'Course, we must always repent for our sins! That's important! It's just that, it's hard to keep at it sometimes, you know? But you from the Zanarkand Abes -- that was a good one! Hey, I'm not saying the team never existed, ya? But you gotta figure a team livin' in luxury like that'd be pretty soft, eh?" Wakka laughed and started leading us towards the village. Tidus put on a smile that I knew he was hurt and confused on the inside. As we walled I bumped into Tidus sending him stumbling into Wakka who shoved him right back. I walked as fast as I could towards any shaded area or grassy patch in sight avoiding the rock as I went.
