Warning(s): This is going to be the first sad imagine! It includes death :(
Summary: you and Emily have been together for a few years and everything had been perfect for you two, well, up until you get sick.
---
You could feel yourself slowly losing yourself, feeling weaker at every waking moment. Your breathing was starting to slow as well, and you try to stay awake, but this feeling only made you more tired. You wanted to continue thinking about your relationship with Emily Prentiss, which only got stronger throughout the years. She was your everything, and you were hers.
-
"Y/n, you almost died. Do you realize how bad that could've been?" Emily scolded you after you and the team closed a case. "I almost died saving a child, Em. I'd do it over again. Don't tell me you wouldn't do it either. Oh wait, you almost did! Remember when you faked your death?" You snap back, and Emily sighed. You got her there and you knew it. "Look, I just don't want anything to happen to you, okay? I love you and...I really don't want to lose you."Your facial expression softened as you pulled her in for a hug. "I love you too, Em. I'm sorry. I'll try to be more careful."
"No, Y/n, I love you. Like, I'm so madly and completely in love with you." She tells you, and you look at her shock. You and Emily had always been good friends, and yes, you knew there was something different going on, but you could never figure out what it was, until now. You realized you felt the same way, as she stroked your cheek, waiting for your answer.
"I'm so in love with you too, Emily Elizabeth Prentiss." You chuckle as she pulled you in for a long kiss.-
You snap out of the memory, and realized a tear fell from your eye. You knew you didn't have long left, so you had asked your doctor to call for Emily. Nobody else, not the rest of your team, but just Emily.
-
"We found quite a few mets in your liver, Y/n." The doctor tells you as you held Emily's hand, squeezing it. "How bad is it, doc?" Emily asks, her heart dropping once the doctor had told you the news. "It's bad. We'll have to run a biopsy just to confirm it, but Y/n, it's most likely you have cancer."As soon as the doctor walked out of the room, you cried in Emily's arms. Emily rubbed your back as tears fell from her face. "M-maybe it won't be so bad. People survive cancer all the time." She finally spoke out, and you sighed. "As much as I hope that will be the case for me, Em, I don't believe I'll be one of those people. The doctor found more than one met, which, if I do have cancer, it might mean it'd be stage 4, which is not good at all."
"Let's just wait to see what the doctor says when he comes back." Emily sighed, and kissed your head. "Emily, if I do end up dying, I need you to do something for me." You tell her, and she looked at you with sadness in her eyes, "Please don't talk like that."
"Emily, please," You beg her, and she finally gave in. "Okay. What is it?""I don't want you to mourn me every day, and I want you to tell the team this as well. This might be a loss for you all, but I won't be in anymore pain. Take my death and turn it into good memories, like how I made you all smile, and how I got you to fall in love with me. Don't focus on the sadness. I want you to be happy and think of me in a positive way, no matter what kind of place you're in. I don't want you to be sad forever, Emily. I also don't want you to be alone either. If you fall in love again someday, that's okay. I'll be smiling down at you from wherever I end up going."
"Heaven, I hope," Emily chuckled as she cried at your words. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'll be okay, and you'll be okay. Just don't be sad all the time, okay?" You tell her and she nodded, sniffling, "Okay. I promise."
The doctor came back in, "Ready for that biopsy?"
-
It had turned out you had stage 4 liver cancer. When the doctor sent you the results, you and Emily both cried, but both eventually tried to stay positive. The team was a wreck as well, but you told them exactly what you told Emily. "Y/n?" Emily stood at the doorway of your room in hospice care, and you smile up at your new wife. After your diagnosis, you and Emily decided to get married at city hall. You didn't want to wait, and neither did she, and it was the best decision you two made.
"Hi wifey." You say weakly with a small smile. Emily looked at the sight of you, with your hair completely gone, and at this point, your body was way too weak to move. "Hi." She came to your side, and pressed her lips on yours. "Did you guys have a case?" You ask as she grabbed your hand. "I got called but I told Hotch you needed me so he let me come. Honestly, I'd rather be by your side than go on the case."
"I love you, Emily. I'll always love you." You tell her, and Emily stifled out a sob. "Y/n, it's not your time yet. Please stay awake for a little bit longer. Please." You could feel your eyes start to close, and your heart beat slowing rapidly. "Emily...it's time."
"Please...I'm not ready. I'm not ready!" She sobbed, as she grabbed your face. "I love you. Thank you for giving me the best few years of my life." You tell her before you closed your eyes, and your heart stopped. The machine you had been plugged into began to make the noise it makes whenever a person dies. Emily sobbed into your shoulder as doctors came into the room.
"Ma'am, I'm so sorry for your loss." One of them says as they began to unplug everything.
Emily continued to stay with you for a few hours before the doctors finally came back to get your body to send to the morgue.
After you died, Emily kept her promise eventually. For the first month, Emily was a wreck, but she remembered what you had told her months before so she stuck to your word. The team was devastated, but continued to go on, but not without excluding you, because you'll always be a part of the team and they made sure you will never be forgotten.---
