Captain James Hook x fem! reader

Curses were not for the faint of heart. More often than not, they were only to be used if all other avenues had been exhausted, but many shied away before even considering the route of cursed powers for fear of what the magic might demand in return for their deepest and darkest desires.

But Captain James Hook was desperate. More desperate than perhaps anyone to ever set foot on Neverland. The island had never felt a soul more desperate than the pirate's, tinged with malicious intent and dark secrets. And though the island feared for what Hook might resort to, it found amusement in the man's unwavering desire. It felt pity for the crew that followed him so readily, knowing that the cursed power he sought might snap one of them up as a price, but it was intrigued by the man's bellowing cries of fury and the swiping of his hook through the air as he threatened his crew to move faster.

The pirate crew knew little about magic and even less about the cursed powers rumoured to thrive within the darkest heart of the Neverland Jungle. Their experience with magic had been limited to the magic of the fairies of Pixie Hollow – specifically their few meetings with the sprite known as Tinker Bell – and the magic that kept their ages stagnant no matter how many years they lived in the realm of Neverland. A few had experienced a little more as they fought their way through the jungle or spoke with the mermaids that thrived in the coves and the deepest currents of the ocean, but no one knew more than Y/N, a being secretly concealing powerful magic beneath her skin.

Y/N had tried to caution the captain against pursuing this dark magic, but the man was all sorts of stubborn. He refused to listen to reason as thoughts of Peter Pan clouded his mind. Once, he had called Y/N the love of his life, his second star, his compass, but now, as she tried to persuade him against seeking vengeance, he found himself pulling away from her.

Their romance had been a whirlwind of emotions. When they had first met, Y/N had fought for Peter, sending Hook's pirates down to Davy Jones' locker and threatening to sic the Tick-Tock Croc on him. Once or twice the two had faced off, Hook pinning her to the mast with his hook or forcing her to walk the plank and sink into the depths of the Neversea. But after years apart, Hook had grown to miss the woman. Her cunning wit, sharp as a cutlass, her laugh, bright and clear as bells, the glint in her eye that sparked like a pin whenever she drew her blade, everything. When she returned, Hook had forgotten about his revenge on Peter Pan. He had been inexplicably drawn to the woman, intoxicated by her presence on the island. He had abandoned his crew for days, pursuing the woman as she unknowingly led him into the forest. And once he had finally caught up with her, she had confessed herself intrigued by the pirate. After a few short weeks aboard the Jolly Roger, the two had confessed their attraction for each other and had ruled as the pirate king and queen of Neverland.

But after the romance had settled into common complacency, Hook had grown restless, yearning once more for the thrill of the hunt. His thirst for adventure had been dulled while searching for his second star, but now that he had her, he longed to see Peter Pan's head on a spike, and the crocodile turned into a grandfather clock.

Y/N had been opposed to resuming the hunt for Peter Pan. She and Hook had argued for days about hunting Peter and the Lost Boys, but Hook had refused to give in to Y/N's advice. He was well aware of the friendship still lingering between Y/N and the band of boys living on the island, but he refused to give up his life's pursuit. He would have Peter Pan's blood if it was the last thing he did.
