"Did you ever think you would be here?"

Y/N rolled her eyes and glanced over at the man seated beside her on the sofa, his arm draped affectionately over her shoulders, his other propped up on the arm of the sofa. To anyone passing by the large window to their left, daring to peer in, the man would have seemed normal. Just as normal as Y/N seemed to the rest of the world. Not a girl with extraordinary magic that could level a small city if she so chose, but just a young woman, bundled up on a cold autumn night with her partner.

"What, sitting here on a couch watching a scary movie," Y/N joked, threading her fingers through her partner's. "Or do you mean the fact that you're here with me, crashing the quiet needed for me to be properly scared by this?" She gestured with her nose to the slasher film currently playing on the little TV in her living room. Halloween had rolled around once again and Y/N was choosing to make the most of it. She had already gone to a haunted house with friends, carved her jack-o'-lanterns with her partner, and bought enough candy to put an elephant into a coma. Now all that was left was to binge-watch the list of scary movies that her friends had given to her. And of course, she had dragged her beloved boyfriend into the mess of her sudden jumps and twitches.

"The second one, babe," the man hummed, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "Ever thought you would be the girlfriend of the god of death?"

Y/N rolled her eyes and sat up a little straighter, turning to face her boyfriend. "You sure think highly of yourself," she hummed, tapping him on the nose. "You're not the god of death to me." She leaned a little closer, her lips barely ghosting her boyfriends. "You're just my drama queen boyfriend who craves all the attention in the world, Hades." She smirked and pulled away before their lips could touch, rising to her feet and stretching out her limbs.

"You are such a tease," Hades grunted, leaning back on the sofa and throwing his free arm over the back.

"Of course," Y/N teased. "Can't smother you with affection. You'd get bored too quickly." She sauntered out of the room ignoring Hades' chuckling, and headed over to the kettle on the kitchen counter. Humming quietly and still listening to the film as it played, she grabbed two mugs from the cabinet, one a ghost, the other a carved pumpkin, and ladled some hot chocolate powder into the mugs. Then, just as the kettle began to scream, she pulled it off the hot plate and poured the hot water over the chocolate powder, smiling as the mixture turned a deep brown. Before bringing it out to the living room, she grabbed a pair of spoons and poured in a bit of milk, just to cool the mixture a bit and add some much-needed creaminess to the concoction. Then, she headed back into the living room and handed the ghost mug to Hades.

As she took her place beside him, she caught him staring at the ghost with an almost inquisitive look.

"Seemed appropriate," she hummed, blowing on the top of her cocoa. "What with you being the god of death and all." She took a sip of her hot chocolate and let out a long sigh, sinking deeper into the sofa and her boyfriend's side.

"I agree," Hades murmured. "Just seems too cute to be a ghost."

"Ghosts can't be cute," Y/N asked, now focused on the TV again. The killer had made his way into the house through an open window and was now hacking and slashing. She sighed. "Why can't people ever just be logical in horror movies? Seriously, it's not that hard."
