Jafar x fem! reader

A legend had started to swirl around the bazaar. Whispers of a secret cave concealed within the farthest reaches of the desert, where the sand met the stars. And in the shadows, a hidden power festered and brewed, waiting for someone brave enough to seize it.

After being thrown from the palace by the sultan and forced into exile, Jafar wanted the promise of a new power. A power that was rumoured to have been tenfold of what his former power had been. Power that could match that of a genie, without being bound by the same rules. A power that could command the very wind and sands, bending them to his will.

But finding the truth of such a fabled power was nearly impossible. Almost everyone in Agrabah had heard the rumours spiralling as of late, and each seemed to have their own twist to add to the tale. Separating truth from fiction was impossible, even for a man who had been searching for the truth for nearly a year. It would have been hard to find a shred of information had the bars not been so easily accessible and unguarded. No one would dare approach Jafar if they knew who he was, but in the bars, concealed beneath ragged cloaks and the stench of the streets – a smell Jafar hoped he wouldn't have to get used to – he was just another nameless soul in need of a drink and a meal. No one knew he was listening in on their conversations, eagerly consuming every word uttered about the mysterious power.

As he sat in the bar, nursing a plate of warm soup with the last of his stolen coin, he noted his findings in a notebook, sewn together from scraps of his clothes and blank sheets of parchment swiped from travelling merchants.

"I heard the power lies in the desert," one man was saying, whispering heatedly at a table not far from where Jafar sat, concealed in the shadows. "In the Haunted Valley."

"No one would dare go there," another snapped. "Embued with magical powers or not, the Haunted Valley is not a place for the faint of heart. Only the fools dare to venture that far into the waste." He leaned a little closer to his companions. "I heard the power lurks in a cave deep beneath the sands, where the desert meets the sea and stone."

"What does that mean?"

"Do I look like I know?!" The sudden shout drew the attention of the other patrons in the bar, and the man quickly coughed, eyeing the other patrons until they turned away. "If I knew where this place was, I would have gone there long ago to get the power for myself." He chortled, lifting his drink to his lips. "If I were that powerful, I could become the sultan of Agrabah."

"Careful," one of his companions hummed. "You're starting to sound like Jafar."

"Bah! I do not care to be sultan. But imagine what you could do with a power like that." The man sighed longingly.

Jafar made a few quick notes in his notebook as the men fell into silence, pausing in their conversation to enjoy their meal.

"You know," one of the men whispered, "they say the power takes the form of a woman." He glanced around the bar and shifted a little closer. "I heard one man say that she was as beautiful as the rarest gem, polished smooth by the sea, enchanted with a beauty so indescribable that he could only compare it to the stars."

"A woman you say," another at the table snickered. "Sounds more like a fool's dream than the truth."

Jafar couldn't help but agree.

The man continued. "I wouldn't be surprised if the power took the form of a great beast. Such a power would have to be protected fiercely."

"I heard one of the street rats saying that it resembled a giant scorpion."
