Sophia entered the flat, her heart heavy when she saw Hyunjin sitting at the table.
“How was dinner with your friend?” Hyunjin asked softly.
“Insightful,”
“Soph… uhm, can we talk?”
“You proposed to me the same day you were supposed to be at his graduation,” Sophia said.
Hyunjin looked at her, his eyes wide.
“How…?”
“Like I said, dinner was insightful. I found a picture of you and him. I recognised the girl from the bar, but I didn't know her name. Then I remembered the guy he was with at the shop, he works in the clinic at the hospital, a nurse.
So I went to the clinic, he was reluctant to tell me, but he shared Felix's Instagram with me. From there, I messaged him and he agreed to meet with me. Where he reluctantly told me the answers to my questions,” Sophia explained.
“Why did you go to the clinic?”
“Hyunjin, I just told you why,”
“Sophia, to have known Jisung works at the clinic, you would have had to have gone there before,” Hyunjin said.
“The Friday before we went to Jeju, I was worried, because I was late and I went to the clinic, Jisung was the one who saw me,” she said.
Late…?
“You were late?”
Sophia nodded.
“So you're…?” Hyunjin questioned.
“Twelve weeks,” the brunette said.
Hyunjin bit his lip.
Sophia took a deep breath, “Hyunjin, did you ever actually love me?”
“Yeah,”
“Do you love me now?” She questioned.
“Yes, I do,”
“Do you love him?”
Hyunjin took a deep breath, “I don't think I can ever stop loving him, which is what hurts the most,”
Sophia nodded.
“I need to know, do you want to get married? I ask because the ring you keep in your bedside drawer under your sketchbooks is an engagement ring, but I wear mine… and that ring well you can only buy it once and for one person,” she said.
“I'm sorry,” Hyunjin said softly.
“Beside proposing which you shouldn't have done, what are you sorry for?”
“Wasting three years of your life,”
Sophia smiled softly, “I wouldn't say wasted. I would say that we both gained some new experiences. I'm not mad about it, so much as disappointed and a little hurt. What I will be mad at is if you don't help with you know and if you don't get your stuff together and fix your relationship with Felix. I met him twice and he is kind and the last thing he wanted tonight was to hurt me, and I swear if you let him go I won't forgive you,” Sophia said sniffling a little.
Hyunjin laughed a little and nodded, “I promise, I will make it right,”
Sophia nodded, “Good. Now, as for our living situation…”
“I will see if I can crash with one of my friends,”
“No, I can crash with my sister,”
“Soph, you stay here in the flat and when you are ready for me to come pick up my stuff, just text me,”“Are you sure?” Sophia asked.
Hyunjin nodded, “Yeah, plus some of the news of what is happening here reach a friend out of country and they are flying in, so yeah,”
“They aren't happy?”
“Nope, but to be honest I rather face them over his best friend,” Hyunjin said.
“And the best friend is the one who punched you?” Sophia asked.
Hyunjin nodded.
Sophia chuckled, “Well I understand,”
Hyunjin stood up, “I am going to go collect some things and text Chan,”Sophia nodded and watched Hyunjin go to the room.
She sighed softly and sat on the couch, her hand on her stomach.
“Everything will work out,” she whispered.
