"Is everything okay?" Isabela glanced at Elena who had gone completely silent.

"What?"

"You said you wanted to ask me something?"

There was a long pause until Elena spoke "I..." The thought crossed her mind about pulling out the ring and asking her right then and there, but she quickly decided otherwise - even though time was crucial Elena still wanted it to be special.

"What is it?"

Elena shook her head with a wave of her hand "Nothing"

Isabela looked at her with a frown "But-"

"It's not important" Elena lied and tried to dismiss it by changing the subject "I think we should get back inside...it's starting to get cold"

Isabela nodded slowly, still not fully convinced but she opted to let it go "Yeah, you're right"

Elena found herself climbing back into Isabela's room, so much so for the rollercoaster of emotions in the span of a few hours.

Isabela muttered another apology as they reached inside.

Elena glanced her way before making sure the window was properly closed "It's okay"

"I still feel like a jerk"

"Isa" Elena walked over to sit next to her on the bed "I promise it's fine"

"But you're right I can't keep letting fear take control over me" Isabela turned to face her "I act rashly and then regret it"

"Look Isa I know first hand how fear can make us act in ways we don't expect...I was upset too and didn't stop to think about it"

"Don't, I need to be held accountable" Isabela frowned "You've been nothing but considerate to me"

"Same goes for you" Elena offered

"I broke up with you" Isabela almost scoffed "And five seconds later I was running after you"

Elena let out a small laugh "That you did"

Isabela's eyes widened in surprise "You should be furious at me right now"

Elena's hand moved to her arm "I'm not angry anymore"

"Why are you alway so good to me?"

"I'm not doing something extraordinary you know?"

"I think you are"

"Izzy I'm really not "

"You have stood by my side all this time...even when I have been a complete idiot" Isabela sighed "I'm the one responsible of messing everything up"

"You don't mess things up"

Isabela gave her a pained look "I feel like I can't stop this...I act on impulse and it solves nothing. I just don't know what to do anymore"

"And it's to be expected. This isn't your responsibility, it shouldn't be"

"But I don't have a choice"

"And I know that" Elena spoke softly "But I want you to share this burden with me, I've told you before Isa, I am your partner no matter what life throws at us"
