The visiting hours are over at Brighton Gen, it's nearly 10pm.
"Bye Anna, I will see you as soon as I can. I know we can't come back, so I will pray for you." Cora says.
"I'm not dying, I'm getting sleep." Anna rolls her eyes, watching Cora leave.
"See you later sis. Get some rest." Matt says quietly.
"See ya bubba." Anna reaches up to hug Matt. "And take care of these two, or I'll hunt you down."
Matt waves at Anna and waits at the door for Rosie. While Cora and Matt have said their goodbyes, Rosie refuses to leave.
"Can't I stay longer. Tanya?" Rosie pleads with puppy dog eyes.
"No, Anna needs her rest." She glances to the weary eyed Anna, "She'll be home tomorrow afternoon, I'll bring her myself."
Being nudged out of the room Rosie agreed pouting "Oh alright!" She goes to leave, but quickly runs back to Anna and kisses her forehead. " I'll see you tomorrow bam." Rosie waves at Anna before being nudged by Matt to go down the hall.
Matt holds Cora's hand as they walk down the hall, and for some reason, he can't shake the feeling of wanting to stay. He sighs, dismissing the need. He blames it on the day, and how long it was.
Walking out of the hospital, Matt's guards automatically go up. He doesn't want to be caught off-guard by the Unspoken again. His protection side rises, and he pulls Cora closer. Walking in silence, they arrive at Matt's apartment, which is only a few short miles from Brighton General. Matt can tell that Cora is exhausted, so he tells her to go to bed.
She argues at first.
"No. I'm not going to bed until you go to bed. You know how I am. I can't sleep by myself; especially after a day like today. I at least need you in the room with me." Her voice was cracking slightly, and Matt thought the tone was just from being tired and being mates.
"Babe, you need to rest. You're going to want to be awake for tomorrow for when we do our patrols. If you want, you can always do what Rosie taught you."
"I don't want to be alone. I can't be alone. I just can't." She croaks out, and Matt is instantly by her side. He holds her close as she cries.
Cora was exhausted; both emotionally and physically. Today had been one of the most stressful days that she had had, and Matt knew he had to be there. He just held her close and let her cry. She needed too, especially to avoid any mishaps.
She eventually stopped crying, and she pulled back.
"Matt, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap."
"Shh, it's not your fault. We had a rough day. Do you want tea or warm milk? You know that it helps you calm down." She just nodded and held up one finger, indicating she wanted tea. He nodded, gave her a small, sad smile, and went to get her the tea.
As he was waiting for the Keurig to warm up, Matt got a horrible feeling in his gut. He felt as if something horrible was happening, and he wanted to go investigate. He knew that he couldn't though because he had to be with Cora. He
he had to be. Without him by her side, Cora would have the reoccurring dreams of the first time she saw the Unspoken.
Once the tea is done, he brings it back to Cora. Sitting with her between his legs, he sighs.
"Hmm?" Cora mumbles, while trying to get comfortable.
"It's just that I have a bad feeling right now, and I don't know what to do. I feel as if something bad is happening to Anna, but I know it can't be true. Tanya said she will take care of Anna and no unwanted enemies could get in because of the spell thing she did."
