Damon is lounging on the couch, drink in hand. He stares at the ceiling, thinking how much it would take to hang the lykens from there; just so it would look like an accident. He still blames them for Anna turning off her humanity.

A familiar ring fills the air, Damon’s phone is vibrating on the table across the room. Quiet as it would normally be, it’s too loud for him to force himself to ignore. Following the buzzing a secondary ringtone fills the air and he automatically knows who it is.

“This better be good. You’re interrupting my drink.” Damon sighs as he answers the phone.

“That lovely voice. Hmm, hello to you too. Missing me?” Anna cracks a wicked smile, looking around her, watching the people walk in and out of the diner.

Damon rolled his eyes, not wanting to carry on this conversation. “Anna, where are you? Stop teasing the mutts with a trail that you’re not on. They are acting like they’ll find a bone.”

“Oh you know, outside your window pining away. Got to give me props, they’re so clueless and it’s very fun.” Anna lurked around the building, watching the people like they’re meals waiting to be eaten. “If I was a cold hearted killer, who would I taste first?” She teased Damon with a small threat.

Damon shook his head, an annoyed feeling coming over him. “Anna, you are a cold hearted killer. How about you go for a blonde?” He paused. “In all honesty, what do you want?”

“Tempted, but I don’t really find blondes all that good.” She grinned, “Been homesick, wondering what I’ve missed.”

“Well, there's been a town massacre, and the wolves still think they can save the town and no one's thought about you since you left. But the little restaurant still makes some good coffee and cake.” Damon chuckled, trying to be sarcastic.

“Stop lying Damon. We both know where your mind is at. And what about you? I'm sure now that you've given up on your lost lover, you're plotting some sort of way of moving in on someone else.” Anna paused, feeling easily able to get underneath his skin. “Also, you won’t find the killer in Brighton.”

“I didn't give up on you. We just don't know where you are. They’re out looking for you as we speak. And maybe I will move on. Anyone would give me more than what you ever could. You had too much fun with all those you can find before you drain their blood.” Damon huffed, his nerves being rattled.

“Hmm...” Anna thought to herself, quickly laughing after. “You have no argument for that and you know it.”

“But you know that. Are you trailing them? Or how do you know what they are doing?” Damon asked, trying to challenge Anna.

“A pair of lykens who want me home and their owner who's off the rails? I couldn't be further away. I don’t want anything to do with you.” Anna’s tone went stone cold.

“Which means you know exactly where they are. So where are they? Or where are you?” Damon pushed, seeing how Anna’s demeanor changed. “I would’ve thought different, especially after you were screaming my name.”

Anna didn’t acknowledge his last few words. “All I know is that I may or may not be close by...keeping tabs and such. Cora and Matt are in Louisiana and you’re sulking at home. So why would you ever care where I am?”

“How do you know that? And because maybe you were important to my sister.” Damon pushed more.

“ Spend enough time running and there will be a few people along the way that are looking out for you. Been gone, what? Half a year? Maybe more? Why would I dare care about her?” Anna rolled her eyes, “For all she knows I’m either dead or missing. Or whatever lies you put into her head. Know this, I’m not going to come back or turn my humanity on.”

“Is that what you're doing? Looking out for my sister? I’m not sure you’re really as bad as you think you are. A part of you still cares for her.” Damon paused. “So, who are these people that are looking out for you?”

“Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe I’m conflicted. I do know it doesn’t regard you. My people are MY people Damon. Viktor’s people. My people. Worry about yourself otherwise I’ll kill you.” Anna’s voice was surprisingly emotionless. It seemed nothing could get to her.

“You don’t mean that. But fine. Side with that little bastard. Just tell me where you are and come home.” Damon sighed, hating how he wasn’t getting anywhere with Anna.

“I’m nearby. You can’t bring me home Damon. Not after what you did. Besides, there’s more freedom here. Come find me yourself If you really want me back.” Anna began to put up a ruse. “Viktor is protecting me, so I’d love to see you try.” She smirked and watched as a suspicious man walked behind the diner.

“Just tell me where I should start. That’s all I’m asking for.” Damon clenched his jaw, hearing Viktor’s name.

“Carencro. You’ll know you’re close if you find bodies. I’m not going back with you. Try all you like to find me.” Anna smirked feeling like her job was done in annoying him. She took the phone away from her ear, “Goodbye Damon.” She hung up her phone and placed it into her jacket pocket. “Now what’s good around here?” Anna stepped back into the diner, only to be shooed out by the man behind the counter.

Damon was enraged as he threw the glass of brandy at the wall, infuriated that he didn’t get any answers from Anna.

Anna stared at the man behind the counter, something filling the air, driving her to think she wasn’t the only supernatural being in there.
