Morgan sat on the film set, trying to focus on her lines, but a wave of nausea made it hard to concentrate. She clutched her stomach and excused herself, stumbling away from the crew and cast.
Ruby, who had been watching from the sidelines, noticed the distress on Morgan's face. As soon as Morgan hurried out of the set, Ruby followed, her concern growing.
"Morgan, wait up!" Ruby called, catching up just as Morgan made it to the quieter backstage area. Morgan leaned against the wall, her eyes watering and her face sweaty.
"Are you okay?" Ruby asked, placing a hand gently on Morgan's back.
Morgan shook her head, her eyes closing as she took deep, ragged breaths. "I don't feel so good. I think I might be coming down with something."
Ruby glanced around and then led Morgan to a nearby lounge area, away from the noise of the set. She helped Morgan sit down on the couch and immediately went to fetch a bottle of water and some tissues.
"Here, drink this," Ruby said, handing her the water. "It'll help settle your stomach."
Morgan took a sip and nodded gratefully. "Thanks, Ruby. I'm really sorry. I know it's a busy day, and i'm not trying to be a bother."
"You're not a bother," Ruby replied firmly. "You're my friend. Let me help you get through this. Just rest for a bit."
Ruby kept a steady stream of conversation, talking about light, comforting topics to keep Morgan's mind off her discomfort. She also made sure to check in regularly, asking if Morgan needed anything or if she felt any better.
As the hours passed, Ruby stayed by Morgan's side, occasionally going to check in with the director and explaining the situation. She made sure Morgan was hydrated and had small, easy to digest snacks that Ruby had found in the set's catering area.
Morgan improved slightly, and she managed to sit up and smile weakly at Ruby. "I feel a bit better now. I really appreciate everything you've done."
Ruby smiled back, her own relief evident. "I'm just glad you're feeling a little better. We'll take it easy the rest of the day. No more filming until you're fully up to it."
As the sun began to set, the set grew quieter. Ruby stayed with Morgan, talking about their favorite movies and reminiscing about past adventures to keep her spirits high. Morgan felt immensely grateful for Ruby's unwavering support.
By the time Morgan felt strong enough to rejoin the set, it was already past midnight, the two girls hadn't even noticed, the realization made them erupt into the laughter as they parted ways to their separate trailers.
