Y/N's POV:
Me, taehyung and Jungkook were in taehyung's cabin, working on something. We (me and taehyung) noticed the change in Jungkook's behavior. He was usually a bit of a troublemaker, but lately, he had been oddly quiet and reserved. It was unlike him, and it had both me and Taehyung concerned. Tae glanced over at kookie from across the room, his brow furrowing slightly. He knew something was weighing heavy on his friend's mind, and he wanted to get to the bottom of it so he called out,
"Kookie.." his voice soft yet concerned, "You've been awfully quiet lately. Something on your mind?"
"Are you okay?" I asked too. Jungkook looked up from his spot on the couch, his expression was a mix of surprise and a bit of guilt at being caught.
"Yeah, I'm fine." he replied, But the forced nonchalance in his tone didn't fool either of us.
"Bullshit, Kookie. We can tell something's bothering you. Don't try to brush it off as nothing." Taehyung said. He glanced over at me, silently communicating his concern. He knew Jungkook could be stubborn and shut down if pressured too much, but he also knew that letting this go unchecked wasn't helping either, So he turned his attention back to Jungkook and said again, "Talk to us, Kookie. We're here for you. Whatever it is, you know you can tell us" but still Jungkook was hesitating..
"Look at me" I spoke firmly. Jungkook glanced up at me, surprised by the sudden demand in my voice. He met ny gaze, and for a moment, he seemed torn between the urge to keep his silent facade and the need to open up. His eyes were filled with a mixture of vulnerability and reluctance, and it was clear he was struggling with whatever he was keeping inside.
"Something is...wrong but you're not telling us." I said as Jungkook's facade crumbled slightly at my words. The mask of false nonchalance slipped, and his eyes betrayed the pain and turmoil that was brewing beneath the surface. He let out a slow exhale, as he whispered, "You're right. Something is wrong.."
I looked at taehyung and made 'I told ya' look. He noticed my gesture and couldn't help but roll his eyes a little at the subtle 'told you so' message I was conveying. He knew I was right, of course. Something was obviously bothering Jungkook, but getting him to open up about it wasn't going to be easy. Taehyung let out a soft sigh and gave me a small nod, silently acknowledging that I had predicted this
"So will you tell us or we've to read your mind huh? You know, taehyung is a mind reader.." I said and Jungkook chuckled softly at my attempt to tease him into opening up, and for a moment, a hint of his usual playfulness resurfaced,
"As if you could read my mind," he retorted, a slight, almost cheeky smile tugging at the corners of his lips and he leaned back against the couch, as he continued, "It's nothing, really. Just some stuff I'm dealing with"
"Stop bullshitting or I'll fry your damn ass and will feed it to dogs." I said and then I looked at taehyung. Taehyung couldn't help but snort at my sudden surprisingly violent threat, He glanced at Jungkook, who was looking a bit taken aback by my unexpected outburst as he said, "Relax doll.. I guess Jungkook will taste good with ketchup or hot sauce."
I tried not to laugh and I said, "It's a serious moment taehyung.." I mumbled and he let out a small chuckle, his smile widening at my attempt to remain serious despite the situation. He knew it wasn't the appropriate time to joke around, but the image of feeding Jungkook to dogs - as ridiculous as it was - was still a touch amusing
"My apologies, doll. I'll try to behave."
"Now spill, Kookie. What's going on?" He asked. Jungkook let out a sigh, his shoulders slumping as he realized he wasn't going to get away with not talking about it
"It's...it's a girl" he confessed, his voice was low and strained. "And is it seol-ya?" I asked and a mixture of emotions flickered across his face: Guilt, Sadness, Love, Regret.
"Yeah... yeah it's her" he confirmed
"Now..what happened between you two?" I asked and Jungkook let out a slow exhale, running a hand through his hair and looking away, his eyes avoiding mine and Taehyung's,
"It's...complicated. I pushed her away.. I tried to end things between us because...because being with me is dangerous, and I didn't want her to get hurt. She deserves better, not someone like me. I can't give her what she deserves. I'm not the man she deserves. She deserves someone who'll make her experience those romantic scenes which we see in movies or books. I didn't want her to get tangled up in this shitty life. Also it was in hyung's plan to not let know anyone that you're here..with us"
he said and he let out a bitter laugh. He continued, his voice was tinged with regret and frustration,
"I broke her heart. I hurt her. But...but no matter how much I try to stay away, I can't get her out of my mind. She's always there, lurking in the corners of my thoughts."
He clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white from the intensity of his grip,
"I'm torn, y/n. I know I should stay away from her, for her own safety. But I love her. Love her so goddamn much.."
I looked at taehyung and he caught my look, his eyes meeting mine. He could sense the mix of empathy and uncertainty in my gaze, and he understood the implicit question I was asking him: "What do we do now?"
He let out a slow exhale, his brows furrowed in thought, his mind flickering through the options and possibilities. After a few moments of contemplation, he spoke up,
"We need to talk to Seol-ya."
"W-what? N-no no.. you can't talk to her. That defeats the whole purpose of pushing her away." Jungkook said as his eyes widened in surprise and slight panic
"It's not going to work, Kookie. You've been moping around, miserable and torn apart, for months. You pushed away the girl you love, and it's tearing you apart. Something has to give." Taehyung exclaimed
"And it's been many months now" I said
"Yes, it has. And it's eating you up inside. You can't stay away from her forever, Kookie. It's not doing either of you any favors." Taehyung said and he paused for a moment, his eyes meeting mine again, and a hint of a smile tugged at the corners of his lips
"We need to fix this mess."
Jungkook lets out a soft sigh, his shoulders slumping a bit. He looked conflicted but knew that he couldn't argue with the two of us. Deep down, he wanted things back to how they were with Seol-ya, but he worried about her safety and well-being. He closed his eyes for a moment, then nodded his head in agreement,
"Yeah...yeah okay."
I looked at taehyung and whispered, "So it's a new mission huh? but not a mafia mission but a-"
"A love mission, doll." He whispered back
