"OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, IZUKU, MARA!" screamed Inko across the house. "IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE!"

Izuku and I both looked up from our game at the same time. Without hesitating, we scrambled to our feet, rushing to the living room, almost tripping over each other in the process. Inko held the letter out with shaking hands.

The emblem on the neat envelopes was clear. UA.

We both took ours, glancing at each other nervously.

"O-only o-one?" Izuku stuttered.

"It's addressed to both of you," Inko said.

"Let's do it together," I whispered, seeing how Izuku's pupils were quivering. He must've been really scared.

After the exam, both of us had felt somewhat uneasy. Despite knowing I did well in the practical, the written test was another story. I already struggled with speaking Japanese, having only practiced with my family, but writing it was a whole other ball game. My grammar was definitely not up to par, and my kanji was even worse. Even though I always scored well in school in New York, the language barrier was definitely detrimental to my test.

Izuku's problem was the other way around. He knew he did well on the written, but the poor kid had only knocked out a zero pointer.

"So wait," I'd said as we walked back home after the exam. "You do have a quirk then? I kept hearing people talk about the crazy kid who took out the other zero pointer."

"Yeah," he replied. "Honestly, it developed late and I've been saving using it until the entrance exam."

"That's dope! No wonder you kept sneaking off to train. But... I heard it broke your arm. Does that mean it's not safe for you to use?"

"Not exactly," he said. "Honestly, since I've lived most of my life without it, my body isn't used to it yet. That's why it hurt to use it. I think the more I train, the better it'll get."

"Ah, I guess that makes sense." I nodded. "So what, then, it's like super strength?"

"Pretty much. As far as I can tell it basically gives me a boost and enhances my physical abilities."

"That's pretty sweet," I said. "You know that I have the proportionate strength of a spider, so I'm pretty strong myself. Once you get better we should go head to head sometime."

Izuku smiled. "That'd be cool."

I'd punched him on the shoulder lightly and the two of us had arrived back at the house feeling slightly better.

...

We shut the door to Izuku's room and sat on the bed, placing the envelopes in front of us.

"Let's do this," I said, ripping it open.
